You can add an electric lock to the tailgate

(clickable)
When you click the remote to lock the doors, the tailgate locks also. I park at home in the boonies, so I haven't added it, but I've considered it if I could figure out a way to make the truck cap lid lock with one too.

yeah - I've thought about contacting the prospective seller, then going over and locking the tailgate to his truck if they had it installed..... then calling the cops.

Had mine stolen about a year ago. Replaced it with a new take off from a salvage yard for $500. Now I keep this one locked.

They also offer a manual tailgate lock. I purchased one 5 years ago at the same aftermarket place I purchased my truck cap/topper & have had no problems.
