How early is too early to let the kids outside to play when your camping? Our kids (ages 8&9) are normally up by 7am at home, even on weekends, breaks and summer. When we're camping, We make them stay in the tent and play or read quietly until at least 7:30 because once they're out, I percieve them as too noisy. They're just normal kids, but at that early hour, it seems like normal conversation seems amplified! And once they're out, there's bound to be the occasional loud voice from one kid to the other!

We camp at a state park that has mandatory quiet hours that begin at 10pm, but there's no posted "end" in the morning. Visiting hours, however, start at 7am, which seems kinda early to me, but I didn't make the rules...I just follow em.

What's too early for kids to be out???

We usually wait to let the beasts out of the trailer until we see signs of life around us. We are early risers (all awake at 6:30) and fed by 7am. Most campgrounds have a majority of people up and out by 7:30ish.....

If your neighbors aren't awake...take the kids on a nature walk.

If the sun is up let them play. Although if they don't see another soul outside explain to them it is still sorta quiet time.

When we went camping with our 4 after waking up, we'd quietly start moving around, fixing breakfast, kids getting dressed, they'd help me with whatever. In tenting areas especially people don't tend to sleep too late - the grounds not as comfortable as the RV's. Plus, who can sleep lat with the smell of bacon on the fire? Personally, I say by 7:30 if they're not up it's THEIR problem - it's a weekend camping trip and you're there to have FUN, not sleep!

No issues with my kids. They are late birds. I can't even get my son out of bed until after 9AM. I wish I have your issue, as we are wasting good sun light in the early morning.

On the Ohio DNR website, quiet hours are listed as being from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. (I did a google search for Ohio State Park quiet hours and it brought up the page on the DNR website, couldn't find a link to the park rules and regs on their home page).

DH and I are up and out of the trailer by 8:00 but our boys are another story. They stay up late chatting and playing cards in their tent so they aren't about to get up before 9:30. DH and I will usually start cooking and breakfast around 9:00 or 9:30 and then start the grueling process of trying to get the boys up.

I think 7:00 to 7:30 is good. Unless they are right in front of our trailer screaming, we probably won't hear them.

Thanks for the input. To the person who googled the Ohio State parks and found the ODR page. Thanks so much! We camp at East Harbor State Park, which is one of the few Ohio State parks that has its own website. I couldn't find the quiet time ending on East Harbor website, and I didn't think to go to the DNR site.

We tent exclusively in the primitive sites which have almost no trailers or campers. A few popups, but mostly tents. Tents are a whole lot less sound insulated, so I was more concerned with being a considerate neighbor.

Thanks again for the help. It looks like I'm doing ok with my rule.
