We're planning a trip to Burney Falls California in two weeks. Has anyone been in that area recently? I'm wondering if we should cancel our plans because of the wild fires.
Our intended route is through Klamath Falls (highway 97) to Weed (I5) to Burney Falls (highway 89).
Any info on the conditions is appreciated.

Lots of smoke throughout N. California. As far as active fires, there are currently none along the route you will take or near the falls. But that is only the current situation. You may want to check on the fire situation again just before you head south.

I want to leave this earth quietly in my sleep like my grandfather and not like the hysterical, screaming passengers riding in granddad's RV just before the big crash.

I've been checking the www.fire.ca.gov web site. I was hoping feedback from anyone who has been there recently.

Thanks...

Ken, search for my post on Lassen Park- I just posted a few days ago and got lots of info on the area. We're heading up there tomorrow am, I'm not expecting too much trouble except for some smoke. After that we head up to Ore to your part of the country. Jerry
