I've replaced them before on other peoples rigs so if it comes to that then that is what we'll do. I'll check the mounts when I take the cover off this weekend.

There are several possible causes.. I see a good number of them have been covered, and a few more ... Well, the procedure to fix/check for the ones covered will catcht them too..

That leaves bearing failure

WA8YXM. Was hoping you would jump in here. We borrowed a fin comb (ordered my own) so this weekend we'll get up there and do the whole maintenance routine. Will post the results. Thanks

the compressor is freezing up. try raising the temp setting and see if it runs better. they can work for years with the rumble and buzzing. as long as the air is cold keep on using it. you will know when it breaks--the air will be warm..

Tommy. When you say freezing up do you mean the bearings...or temperature wise as the latter doesn't seem to be the case. Thanks.

Since he mentioned temp settings, I think he was refering to temperature. The only issue with that is that compressors do notfreeze internally. I would recommend you go with the responses(or some of them) that you have gotten so far. The longer these A/C threads go, the more bizzare answers you are going to get from people who have no clue how an AC even works, but just want to post something..
