What is the difference between the Montana and the Montana Mountaineer series from Keystone? According to the keystonerv website, the mountaineer is a montana + some extras, but it appears that I can get a mountaineer 285RLD cheaper than a Montana 2955RL...
Help me understand what I'm missing?
Thanks!

If you look carefully at the construction detail and exploded diagram I believe there are differences. Also my be less fluff with the Mountaineer

I have a Mountaineer. It is a Montana without some of the "luxury " items, ie exposed rear bumper, some vinyl tile versus all carpet.Maybe some of the trim and interior finish. It was compared by my dealer as a Buick versus a Cadilliac.

I agree with jdgreen42. The Montana has a little nicer finish is such things as woodwork and other little interior items. You can see the differences by looking at both. I don't know that the quality is any different. And yes, you can get the Mountaineer for a little less money. We shopped both before buying a Montana because it had a floorplan we liked better.

Hi, We just purchased a Mountaineer 285 rld a couple weeks ago and did extensive research on the different levels and what came with what. Here is what I came up with:
The Montana series has more fluff and higher quality floors, counter tops and other things which make it better suited for full timers. It is the top of the line for higher price rigs along with the Everest. The Mountaineer is a step down from those two but has some neat features like the outside kitchen and water on both sides. It is a little better suited for those who Boondock and use full hookups. We found it was the best bang for the buck. We almost bought the rear kitchen as it has a great kitchen setup but I felt I was right on top of the TV with the lounge area so far forward. We opted for the rear lounge and have been very happy with the setup.
Hope this helps

Actually, you have it backwards. The Montana is a step up from the Mountaineer, hence the smaller price tag. I think both would be good units. We own a Mountaineer and have been really satisfied with it. Good luck in your choices.

We have a 2007 Montana 3400RL with all the extras and just love it. I would suggest that you go over to the Montana Owners Club website at: http://montanaadministrator.forumco.com/ for more information.

Correct...top to bottom is Big Sky, Montana, Moutaineer, then Cougar/Laredo/Outback.
