Guinness bestows download record on Firefox
"The de facto registrar of superlative achievements has credited Mozilla for officially setting a record for downloads in a 24-hour period: 8,002,530 copies of Firefox."

Competition is a good thing for us IMHO.

I updated to Firefox 3 and then abandoned it for Firefox 2. Firefox 3 has problems in viewing some websites including my own. I also think it has a cache management problem. I'll wait until they work out their bugs.

Y-Guy Thanks for the follow up. I count two or three in that record. I downloaded to two computers, twice to one of them. It depends on how they count. Firefox deserves the record and I hope the publicity helps them reach more people who are slow to load anything except what comes with their computer.

davydd,

glad you posted about the FF3 issues. recently received our notice "ready to download" and haven't had the time. on the to do list for this weekend.

BTW, anyone had MAJOR issues with the vista SP1? now we can't get our laptop to shut down! everything goes correct for a while then it starts up the computer again. MS has been very helpful (i know, scares me too!). they have requested several things from the laptop and i have sent the info to them. just got another "try this" and "this" em this a.m. new item for the to do list!!!

I love Firefox. Been using it for a few years now. It is much faster than IE and even faster after you tweak it.

The only thing better than cruising the 'net with Firefox is cruising the 'net with Firefox on a Linux operating system...Can you say, "secure"? I knew you could.

I'm Ubuntu'ing with FF3 and only one glitch the other day while clicking on a Youtube video. FF just shut down, but I brought it back up, resumed the session and everything has been fine since.

I'm using the Linux box most of the time now and the XP laptop is just a back up storage unit.

They'll never outfox the Fox.
