My toad went directly from where I bought it to the RV Dealership for the base plate.I picked it up this week, towed it to CG and yesterday drove it to get my emissions test. That's as far as it got.
While it was in the bay I noticed oil pouring out from underneath. Limped it to the nearest repair shop. interesting it leaked out about 2 quarts of oil and still showed full on the dip stick!
Apparently the guy I bought this car from (who owns a transmission shop)does not know the correct amount of oil this car required.
It was overfilled and blew out all the seals. I'm looking at $1,200 plus to repair it in the town I'm in. Repair shop says he sees it all the time with these Trackers, people assume they take more oil than what is required. I Will be talking and encouraging the seller to pick up the tab, will see how 'that' goes.

I presume you bought it "As is, where is, no warranties expressed or implied"? That is pretty much standard in used vehicle sales.
If I were the previous owner, my first question would be "You didn't check the oil before you drove it?"
You can try, but I wouldn't bet on getting anything.
Good luck.

Hmm... a Google search doesn't come up with any known issues with Trackers being overfilled.
Personally, before I dropped that much to a shop you don't know, I would have the shop drain the extra if it is indeed overfilled, even to a half quart under full, and tow the Tracker back to the previous owner. Owning a repair shop, he/she might get you going in no time.

I had a car overfilled once, and on the first long up hill grade it pushed the fluid out the dip stick tube, and the transmission started to slip. Once it was allowed to cool and the fluid drained to the normal level, everything was OK.

Just to be sure the replys to this post are relevant, I am assuming you mean "Transmission fluid" and not Motor oil. Is that right?

Get a second opinion. Over-filling the engine oil will not blow seals. It will cause foaming, pump oil out of the dipstick and possibly damage bearings.
If the transmission was over-filled, that could be a serious problem.
I've had a diesel engine with oil coming out the top of the engine (exhaust) when the oil fill pump was left on....and it was still running. Once it was drained back down to normal, it was fine. You'd be amazed at what these engines can take. Had one with 30 gals of water in the oil due to a cracked cylinder liner. We just replaced the liner, and then ran it up to operating temps for awhile, and the coolant just burned off, and the oil which had looked like a mocha latte, was clean as a whistle! Oil analysis later on, showed everything to be fine.
I would drain the oil to the correct level (assuming engine oil), and retry it. It is a very good chance, that oil leaked back out the dipstick, due to foaming from being overfilled. The odds are, the seals are OK, or they were bad before you got the Tracker!
If it is the transmission you are talking about.....sorry, can't help you with that one.

Don't know if you are talking trans fluid or motor oil
But
If a little is good a lot should be better
Realy though as all the other posters are saying over filling is not uasualy going to hurt anything...The trans has a vent that would blow out the extra oil. The engine seals may leak while over filled but should be fine if the oil is brought back into operating range.
Don't fall for the high dollar fix right away....Get it back to normal levels and test drive it yourself.JMO
I've run my Jeep with half a gallon too much Transmission fluid in for 5000 miles - never blew a seal. It was because it has the worst dipstick in the world and impossible to see the correct level so kept adding until I was certain it was full. 6 months later took it for an oil change and they had a special offer on a tranny change so they did it but showed my that it had far too much fluid in.
I can't see how excess fluid can blow seals - you probably had a leaking seal when you purchased it but caveat emptor
