We will be driving I-10 next week. I was doing some research on fuel and rest stops for our two day trip. The first day No problems finding fuel and rest areas. But, day two. I-10 between San Antonio and Fort Stockton seems to be a little lite on places to fuel up. None of the major truck stops have a station here. There is no Petro, Flying J, Love's, Pilot, or TA. Is this a long, lonely, empty road? We will be turning north on Hwy 285 to Carlsbad, NM. There is a Flying J at I-20 and 285, but nothing before. Does anyone have suggestion on where to fill up along the I-10 stretch?
I-10 in this part of TX does not have many places to buy fuel. Our MH has a range of over 700 miles. So making San Antonio to El Paso is not a problem. We have traveled this area several times. Even that 700 mile range can disappear very fast when running into high winds. There is a section along I-10 in this area that has Wind Turbines stretching for miles. It's not hard to find out why. Do not let your fuel gauge get below 1/2 and buy fuel when you find it.
It's a long, lonely road, but you should be able to get diesel at Ft. Stockton. A lot of people drive diesel trucks out there. Also, there is a fairly big truck stop at Van Horn
Be sure to top off at San Antonio and you should be just fine. Enjoy the Hill country you drive through.
There is fuel in Ozona. It's a good compromise stop. The fuel, however, will be more expensive.

There are several places to get Diesel between San Antonio and Fort stockton.
About an Hour and half out of San Antonio is Juction. You will need fuel here after the hills around Kerrville.
Nice place to stop. Just take the hwy 83 exit. Easy off and back on. Big truck stops on both sides of 83 at this exit. Easy to get into and out of these fuel stops.
Then Sonora and Ozona all have Truck stops. There is also a couple of truck stops that are not in either of these towns.
Last year we went to AZ for a rally. We filled up here in Victoria,
next stop Junction, next stop Ft. Stockton, then Van Horn, Deming, NM and Tuscon,AZ. Admittedly, I was little worried about the distances so I didn't take too many chances with a low fuel level.
Lonely is an understatement in West Texas... It can be a good hour's drive between fuel stops out there, so I used to carry at least 15 gallons of fuel in jugs when we lived in Texas. The Winnie has a 55 gal tank, so there's a little more peace of mind knowing I've got 300 miles between fill-ups.
I'd top off in Kerrville or Junction. It's 250 miles or 200 miles respective to Fort Stockton. Make your judgement call there before taking the last 50 miles up to Pecos and the Flying J. If you exit on TX-18 and go a few blocks over to Business 10 and turn west, I've found there are usually better prices at the station across from the Walmart than there are right off the interstate.

Well we made it. I topped off the tank at Junction and rolled into Pecos with the computer telling me "25 miles to empty". I guess I cut it a little too close for comfort, but I did have 5 gallons in the a can just in case. Carlsbad is a great place to visit. We are at the KOA. Very nice park, but tooooo far away from the caverns and the town.
