We stayed at Pirateland in Myrtle Beach, SC last year. We just decided today to go back in a couple of weeks and I called and they didnt have any spots, and oceanlakes didnt have anything either. So it was between Lakewood & Apache. Just wondering if I made the right choice. Any advise would be great.
We usually stay at Ocean Lakes. That said we have stayed at Lakewood twice. Last year in August and this year in June, both times the reservations were made on short notice. We enjoyed both of our trips there. The store is well stocked and prices are reasonable. The bath houses do not have air condition but were always clean. We don't use the pool, because when we are at the beach, we are on the beach. The pool does appear to be well maintained though. We have ever stayed at Apache, so I cannot give you any info. We do like the southern end of Myrtle Beach best.
In truth Lakewood has more stuff, with larger sites, and more modern bath houses. However. Apache has a nice pier, and the widest beach of any MB CG. Usually priced alittle better, and in my opinion. It is in a nicer part of MB. You can get to grocery stores, some restaurants, and outlet shopping, without having to get on HWY 17. You can also so get to the CG without getting on 17. and not far from Barefoot Landing. and restaurant row.
You can also see the ocean from yor beachfront site. Something you can't do at any other MB CG.
We have only stayed at Lakewood one time on our only trip to MB. I won't go back. Too many darn golf carts and on top of that 1/2 of them had music systems thumping rap music. I don't want to hear that******
Lakewood would be our next choice after Ocean Lakes. We visit in October when the crowds are down but the weather is still nice. You made a good choice.

I drank a few beers as did some others around me. The ones I saw were discreet and not loud and rowdy. No one from the campground said anything to me about drinking.
The golf carts were not bad, in my opinion. There were lots of children on bicycles near the pool area. We stay in North 1 near Pirateland.
We just returned from a week at Lakewood. You will love it.
Over the last 4 years, I've stayed at Ocean Lakes, Pirateland, Lakewood, Myrtle Beach Travel Park, Myrtle Beach State Park and Huntington Beach State Park and Apache.
Lakewood is our favorite when we want the amenities.
Huntington Beach is our favorite when we just want to go the beach.
Lakewood is like all the rest, keep the alcohol low key and you won't have a problem.

Gets wet when it rains.
Really. If you are alluding to alcohol. Then yes it as dry as all the rest. You get drunk, and make a fool. You get out. If you want to discreetly have wine, or beer without bothering any one else. You can.
