Not sure if this is the proper name for the small pieces that are supposed to hold the bay doors open. You know the ones, the little plastic pieces of junk that are so dangerous that I am surprised someone hasn't gotten smacked in the head by a falling cover and sued the manufacturers.
Anyway, now that I have ranted a bit, what are my replacement options?

Nice metal ones are available at most RV shops or Camping World.

This one has my attention. Every time I look at them I think what do-do engineer signed off on that? I don't even think metal would make me feel better. A 40 pound door hanging on by plastic fingernails is what it looks like.
Fun is that stuff that happens in between mistakes.

You could add gas struts to hold it open.

I thought about gas struts/springs. The dealer said 2 would be needed so the door doesn't twist when opening. Also, since the doors are relatively light, he couldn't find struts that are small enough. Now I know I've seen fifth wheels with cargo door struts somewhere, so someone is making them.

my plastic ones work just fine until the springs break - which has happened on about half of them. I replaced them with the same design and they seem OK.

Yes, Roaddogs, I do have a Cameo. Trying to figure out how you would know that as I have seen other brands using the same holders. Anyway, tomorrow I'm going to Camping World to look at the metal holders. If they have a lip on the end I'll get the pkg of 2 and see if they work.

OK, went to C/W and another RV dealer to look at the cargo door catches. The metal ones are the same design as the plastic and have the same weak springs. In other words, the search goes on.
