We usually go to the high country in Wyoming but not this year. From Tejas, it's about 3k round trip to the Medicine Bows and @ 7 mpg, that's over 400 gallons of diesel. It's ~$4.69 here and always ~.50cents higher up north, so to round off @ $5.00/gallon, I'm looking at $2000.00 just for fuel. I guess we'll stay home this year, and look for something locally.

That's what we are doing. Keeping the trailer parked and any traveling we do will be in the wifes Lexus. It's a shame things have come to this. We had planned a trip to Colorado this year.

Yep we cancelled our Oregon trip because of the cost of fuel. Sucks!

Nope!
Actually, this years vacation will be the longest one in a good while. Loading the MH this weekend and depart next Wednesday. Heck, the way things are going, in a few years there may not be any more vacations. Better take them while we can.

We went - 3 weeks to New Mexico - the price of gas was painful, but the trip was great. We talked about next summer though, and if things stay like they are, we probably will not take our annual trek to the mountains. Since we live in Texas and it is too hot to go someplace closer in the summer, we'll probably wait till the Christmas holidays and take a trip within a 100 miles or so of home. (sigh)......

Have you figured the difference in towing the TT, and paying for a site, against driving the car, and paying for a motel/hotel room, for the same amount of time?
I did, and my beach trip. site, plus gas. Will cost me right at $2000.00 LESS than driving the car, and staying the same amount of time in a oceanfront motel, and $3000.00 less than staying in a oceanfront condo.
I'm comming out ahead.

I put off the trip to yellow stone and instead went to northern WI.
Next year I'll go if things settle down.

We figure we BETTER keep traveling while we can since gas will most likely NEVER be any lower than it is right now. We're heading for Yellowstone/Glacier areas again since it's been a couple of years since we were there last. May end up back in the Northwest again, who knows.

Right you are. That's why I fill it up everytime I get gas, it will only cost more next time I go.

We are staying closer to home. We are exploring our state parks. The lower cost for a site helps even out the cost of gas. We noticed on this trip that many travel trailers, motor homes and fifth wheels are on the side of the road with for sale signs. It is a sad sight to see. Gas won't go down for sure. Luckily we are still paying 3.85 for gas. Not a great price, but definitely better than many.
