We are heading out again next week and going to the mountains for a week. This is our 6 trip since April. We went to the beach for 2 weeks and the other trips were within 1 hr of our house. We have 2 more trips planned before sept.15th so I guess we can say that we haven't slowed down to much.We also just paid for our site @ the beach for next summer.Yes the fuel is expensive but we have cut cost in other places so we can continue to go.Who knows what next year holds. But when that time rolls around I hope that we are blessed to continue to do the same. You can stay in the state C/G's for 2/3 the cost of other C/G's and have just as much fun.Thats what we started doing this year.No more Pirateland,OceanLake,Lakewood,KOA's,or high dollar resort type C/G's for us for the most part.Happy Camping to all.

I did put the pencil to it and staying in reasonable motels will be less. However, there was no beachfront property where we had planned to go. It's a bum deal no matter how you slice it..
When I do my comparison. I have to use beachfront motels, and condos. Because I am staying on the beach in the TT. I don't stay off the beach in a motel or CG. If I drive that far. There better be a beach infront of the TT, or motel. And while camping. We save $60.00 pluss, a day on food, by eating at the camper.
Also. The same is true of the NC mountains. Campsites are $16.00 to $30.00 max. And are less than a tank of gas round trip. Motels there run from $120.00 to $150.00. So. If I go on vacation. Camping is much less expensive for us. When fuel prices stop us from camping. I guess we just won't get to go on vacation anymore.
We this trip short but only because the campground we were at was, pretty much, a dump, from our perspective. 1100 Sites.. 1100 RVers and campers, hundreds of golf carts....
The site next to us had 2 tents with nine small kids, the site next to us and the two behind us were all together and had 4 dogs.. Had a golf cart.. this morning they felt it was OK to cut through our site to the road..
We decided we had enough. That's just the effects of WAY too many people.. And not even commenting on the VERY outdated facilities.
One funny note on the campground. The SINGLE dump station was next to the club house.
We leave for our next trip up to East Tawas, MI State Park. Should be a MUCH better trip.. I have come to love our State Parks over ANY private campground.
