My state doesn't let me forget. They usually send the renewal form a month in advance. Gives me enough time to save up the money needed to pay the fee!

OH, Please How about another idea? Mr. Superhero LEO actually spends time on things that matter, like the idiots driving down the center of the road yakking on cell phones like they are the only person on the planet. Or, maybe the jackbutts that need to tailgate you, six feet off your bumper, with their tractor trailer since they need to show you that they are unhappy that you are only going 75mph in a 65 zone. Sorry, but I can't see kissing up to some fool that need something better to do than stop a guy on vacation to bust his stones over a registration. We had a loser of an LEO do this while my buddy had a van load of boy scouts one year. $100 plus fine, because he took his little used boat out to take the boys on a fishing trip, not realizing that the sticker was still on the kitchen table. Talk about a total tool, sorry I wasn't impressed by his cocky swagger as two dozen boys lost half an hour so he could inflate his ego. Two few real LEOs, too many tools IMHO. Real men don't jerk folks around because they have a badge.

It must be one of two things here with Soern.
Either he has been the target of many highway stops. Or... He didn't pass the civil service test for a LEO job he wanted.
I guess he feels that only some rules need to be obeyed.
I've been doing the job 22 years. I'll be the first to say that
I'm not thrilled with every cop I meet. Especially the younger small town types that have nothing better to do than harass skate boarders in back parking lots. But when you have an expired tag, it's just that. And the cop you pulled over the OP gave them a break. HE DID NOT HAVE TO DO THAT. And I NEVER said kiss up to him.
On a lighter note dear Soren...Good example your buddy set for the boy scouts in the "be prepared" department. Have a nice day.

The State sends us a notice that our tags will expire in Feb but if we aren’t going anywhere we do get them until our first trip out. I figure why give the State any more money then necessary. All though it all most cost me more then just buying the tags!

And yes the OSHP Officer did me a BIG BIG favor and yes I thanked him and I really appreciated him doing it, many would have written me a ticket.

For me it's a matter of convenience to git 'r done, that way it's done. I just received on Thursday, the annual renewal notice for my coach, it expires end of August. I will probably stop by the DMV/County Tax office and get a new sticker this coming week. That way, it's done, I don't misplace the paperwork, and it's not riding on my mind. Sounds like the State Trooper was doing their job, that's to be commended. And giving a good citizen a break.

I have never done this on my TT, but did on my utility trailer. I went out to put the 08 sticker on this spring and realized I still had the 06 sticker on the plate. Luckily I never was stopped last year and I use this trailer a lot.

I have to agree with Agrnbrt, I am also a LEO - I work for the Dept Of Justice though and as soon as the papers show in the mail, the check is out and the tags come back, but on my camper, I have permanent tags. Atleast you got off without a ticket. : )

soren, first let me say that I COMPLETELY agree with your statement. That being said, I don't have anything against LEO's. They do have a thankless job, however there seems to be more and more of them these days (no, not all) who have let the badge go to their heads. Kind of like when you hear one of them refer to the rest of us as "civilians". I always quickly correct any cop who thinks that he/she is not also a CIVILIAN.
Anyway, if I had an expired tag, I would probably expect to be ticketed, but if my tag was current and I'd just forgotten to put the new sticker on, I'd be pretty peeved if an LEO wrote me up after his on-board computer showed that I was current.

LEO = Law Enforcement Officer
or, if you prefer,
COP = Constable On Patrol

Jeffk14, like I said in one of my posts here. I am none too thrilled with many of the younger breed. Now that I have said that again, let me clarify something for you. The reason LEO's, COP's, etc call someone a civilian is because in every state we are considered PARA-MILITARY. It's drilled in from day one at any academy. So yes, you are a civilian to me and other LEO's. All it means is that you are the ones we serve bud. Nothing else.
