Headin' out tomorrow am for a weekend in our new TT. Decided to install a front receiver on our Jeep GC and while we are at it try the bike rack out front as well. Well I just got home and my son has installed the 3 bikes on the front and man....do they ever stick out a long way!! Must be out there 4 to 5 feet! Seems like it any way!! Going to take some getting used to!!! Only a short trip this time (1 hour) so we'll see how it goes. I'll post some pics later on. Wish us luck!!

One thing good about the front receiver you can sure park a TT real easy with it to.

That was the original intent of getting the front receiver installed....to make parking her in tight spots a little easier. The bike rack was a second thought . We'll see how it works out. Very intimidating!!

I just put a front receiver on a Suburban and tried the bike rack. The bikes are 2 adult and 2 children's. The bikes will block the output of the headlights and they stick up a bit over the hood. The return leg of my trip I didn't use it for a rack as I didn't want to get a ticket for blocking my vision or headlights as I was traveling in the dark.. I'm debating shortening the height of the rack, but I don't see a solution as blocking of the headlights. Any ideas would help.

Just make sure they don't block any of your headlights.

I had my local welding shop fab up this little diddy...

It allows me to DROP my bike rack since my Ex's receiver is so high up...I was lucky that I have lots of ground clearance to do this. But doing this was the ONLY way I would haul bikes up front...this drop allows for NO BLOCKAGE of any lights or turn signals...it also drops the bikes to out of the field of view. Here are some pictures...if you have ground clearance...you may want to look at some kind of mod like this if you have light blockage issues.
Also...the larger bike in these pictures is a 24" bike for my daughter.

Great ideas and pics. Thank you!! Arrived at the campground today with out too much difficulty seeing around the front bike rack. Blocked very little in the way of visibility. Not too bad at all. As we are only traveling during the daylight this trip I wasn't too concerned about the headlights being blocked some what. Now the turn signals....hadn't thought of that one. Might have to reconsider using the front rack before our return trip on Sunday.

I was reading that you guys are using the front hitch to drive the TT into tight spots. Doesn't it ruin your tranny driving in reverse all the way to the campsite? Let me know, I wanna try it too!

No, what they are failing to tell us is that they installed a camera on the back of the camper so they can see where they are going as they push the camper all the way there.

One thing to remember. If you look out your window and see someone on what you think is one of your bikes........You just hit somebody.
