Yesterday morning we walked through Salmon Point RV Park. We live here, and it's only 2 1/2 miles from our home. There were waterfront sites available. It's very popular with large RV's like yours. Outstanding views of the Pacific Coast Range mountains.

If you do manage to stay there, write to us here on this site and we will drop in for a visit and give you some more information and places to see around here. It's a beautiful part of the world, and the next two weeks are looking to be excellent weather.

Didn't they suggest that you add the Canada pkg while you are gone then take it off when you come back. I'm in CA, I couldn't add Canada or would have lost an old pkg that I have. Cmpg where I am has no pay phone, I just bought a calling card but it uses lots of mins.

thanks again everyone..
I did call ATT and talk to them about adding the Canada pkg. But it really didn't save us that much so I decided not to add it. My verizon air card was expensive to use in Canada so I feel better knowing that there is wifi.
And thanks Mike and Carole we will definately email you when we get there.

Hey Lonnie & Hazel,
Yes we miss your rig there at Salmon Point with your Comanche Nation flag. It will be great to see you up here again next year. And you must come for dinner this time!

After this post when we were sans RV but in Campbell River area we toured Salmon Point. Must say the lighthouse side is near the beach but no shade, and the other side is much shadier but behind the marina. Still we'd stay there when in the area. V pretty despite my somewhat negativity above.

Once farther up the Island, try out the Telegraph Cove area, either the campground in town, where whale watching and kyaking are supreme, beyond the docks where a whale museum has been constructed or the one farther back out of town, but also by the water. The last one sports a spectacular view of cruise ship plying the narrow channel nearby. If you have the time, walk onto the ferry and visit the small island of Sointula, from Port McNeil before heading north to Port hardy.

Shoot, Dave beat me to it. Telegraph Cove is a great place to visit, just south of Port Hardy. Can't remember what the campground looks like, as we were there 4 or 5 times in our sailboat. A delightful spot.

Enjoy

We stayed at Telegraph Cove 2 summers ago and really enjoyed it. The c.g. was clean, the restaurant was handy and we could watch the whales from the cliffs.
They were so close one night we could hear and smell them! I'd love to go back.
We also took the whale watching trip from there with great success.
