Another group of folks deserve our thanks on this day. Over 19000 firefighters are on the job here in California, including National Guard troops. One man has lost his life so far... Most will be at it today. Fireworks have been cancled at many venues here as well, so while you all are giving thanks and enjoying your celebrations please remember these fine folks as well.

The local public TV has been showing a series of shows centered on the men who landed in Normandy on D Day. I hope those who think of the Forth as just a three day vacation see it and reflect on what those men did. One of the pictures they show is one that I have seen many times before and I have convinced myself that one of the men in the picture is my Father. I'll never know because he is one of the 9000 men buried on the land above the beach.
