When we cross the border into Canada, will we have to raise the popup on the camper for a search? Have any of you with popups had to do this?

It will probably depend on the inspector you get and whether he/she is having a good day or a bad day.

Maybe, maybe not. Just answer the questions as pleasantly as you know how - and if they say raiseit - do it and do not complain.

Once US customs wanted to look inside -- but just had me open the door so they could see it was really used for camping. No problems.

Generally no but it's never a garuantee. Years ago while crossing into Vermont at the Stanstead border (I91) we saw a pop-up open at one of the inspection stalls.

We've crossed over several times with our TT, and once from Canada to the states and back with our TT and three pop-ups. On that trip, of the four units, only our TT got checked. None of the three pop-ups had any problems at all. They all sailed right through.

It all depend on whether or not they suspect you are on the up and up, no guns, little or no booze and few or no cigarettes.

If you have nothing to hide it wont be much of a problem and might take an extra few minutes, not a bad experience when you consider these border agents are protecting our respective countries.

It may depend on what state plates you have on!
In the last two weeks, several acquaintances with Texas plates have been all but strip searched and, when nothing was found, the RCMP demanded, "Where's the guns?" A protest brought words to the effect of, "Well, *ALL* Texans carry guns!" I'd "LOL", but they were serious!

Well, when you put it like THAT...

Still, I'd rather less hassle than more--just my take on it.
