Call your local VFD. Tell them you have an opportunity for a "cribbing and stabilization" training event. And BBQ.

Hey - a neighbor! I also live in Nevada City. I lost my 1999 Fleetwood Elkhorn 9T (that I bought new) this winter. It was in pristine shape. I kept it under an RV car port. We had a heavy snow storm last Jan with high winds. With the 3-4 feet of snow on the roof of the car port, and the high winds, the whole shebang blew over and collapsed, crushing my camper. While I have since replaced it with a 5th wheel, I do miss having a truck camper and could see getting a used one some day.

Anyone considered a Forklift with a couple of Fork extensions? IF you know where the COG is, it might be fairly easy to come in from the side and slowly lift it at the COG and put new supports under it and then go from there.

I think they already suggested that with the pettibone. What they need is one of those giant fork lift trucks, the tangs on those would be easily long enough to reach all the way under the camper and hoist her up.

what a bummer, lay blame on the manufacturer stupid three jacks, anyways if no help from insurance company definitely looks like a construction fork lift could slip right underneath their and pick it up,provided it had six-foot forks, and if you're going to try it yourself make sure you have somebody around to help, just in case,it looks very unstable,as somebody already mentioned, definitely need to make sure that those drums do not fly out and then the whole thing collapsing,I guess I'm not really any help, what a bummer, what I know your post will help other people when they think about using barrels to support the camper, not laying blame, hope it works out.

Ya know, this was my first camper and when i went to get it the person i got it from had it on the jacks with 2 barrels under it. Guess i should have done some inquiring before hand but i guess i just accepted that as an ok way to do it.
Incidently, this guy is in the truck camper business and had probably 7 or 8 there all "stabilzed" the same way.

Don't be to quick to discount the barrels. I have used two 55 gallon barrels, for a couple of years. Never had a problem. Now, without picking on meredog, I have always used them on a level concrete pad, and used planking between the barrels and the campers to spread the load. They work well, and they are cheap to get. I think really the key thing here is the ground they are on. And no disrespect to Meredog, but, level concrete always beats grass.

Rather than saying barrels are a poor support, I would say:
1) they are a lousy support when you're trying to get the camper back to normal after it has fallen over like that
2) they are an inappropriate long term support only because you shouldn't be keeping the camper up that high long term. As soon as the truck is out from under it, wind 'er back down near the ground.
