Artie,
We tow my Chevy HHR 4-down behind our Class-C (26ft E450 Ford V-10) and I can not even tell it is there or measure any MPG difference. The HHR gets a lot better gas mileage than the wifes Saturn LS2 which we used to tow. The HHR can carry a surprisingly large amount of 'stuff' offloading the weight from the MH.

We tow a 5 speed Honda Civic (2003) all four down with a Ford e450. Shasta is the class c.
Have had no problems towing it. We use the roadmaster sterling tow system with a brake buddy.

I tow a 2003 Chevy Tracker...very light...little or no effect on the gas mileage. I use a Roadmaster Sterling tow bar and a Brake Buddy brake system. I bought everything except the base plate on eBay.

Towed a Jeep Rubicon at first-barely knew it was there. Tow a Chevy Tahoe and unless we are on a steep incline there's plenty of engine BUT we do get some "wag the dog" in certain conditions. The smaller you can go comfortably, the better.
Life is too short to spend it all in one place!

Like ron.dittmer, we can live with and relish in our 2 seater 2000 Miata.
After traveling in 44 states and 6 Canadian Provinces without a car, we bought it specifically to tow. At 2,400#, 29 MPG, and a convertible, I don't know what could be any better.
Good luck with your search.

Tim, Don't they add so much more to our vacations?
Living where we do near Chicago, we could never enjoy such an experience in our country's most beautiful lands without towing the MR2 there. It's like others who tow their motorcycles to get that experience. It is too impractical to drive such a car for so long a distance. But towing one is a two-fold benefit when RVing.
