I cut a piece of lightweight plastic-like material and put velcro on it and the edges of the skylight. It can be removed easily and works well.

I tried that with a piece of light cardboard but every time I went to check on the 5er (in storage) the cardboard was on the shower floor. I used velcro but when the sun heated up the sticky backing it just fell off. I think I'll see if I can find one of those wire rimmed car window shades. It won't fit perfect but it might just have enough tension to stay in the opening.....

We bought some foam seat cushions from WalMart, cut some bubble foil to fit, stuck them the in the openings (from the inside),works very well.We use them also when the trailer is sitting in the sun, they help to keep the air conditioner from working so hard. We also put the bubble foil in the windows that are on the sun side.

Do they carry various sizes? I went to their site and saw the ones for the 14x14 vents but the skylights in the shower are much bigger. I guess you could just buy 2 of the smaller ones and use both on the larger skylight?.....

Our Montego Bay is an '07 model, we had the same complaint and noticed that for '08 KZ made a tinted skylight standard. We thought about replacing it, but there is some benefit in having the sun in the shower occasionally to kill molds.

In the meanwhile I have taken the smallest size 3m brand "Command" hooks (these are clear) and attached them (6) to the trim around the skylight opening, with the open end of the hooks facing inward. Then, I cut piece of bubble-insulation to fit the opening, and the "hooks" hold it in place. The Command hooks hold better than Velcro, and we can put the cover in or take it out as we wish.

Works for us.

My Newmar came from the factory with a shade already installed on the shower skylight. The shade is just like the pleated window day/night blinds except it is mounted under the skylight.

Velcro, glue and the double sided aluminized bubble reflector will fix that for you quickly if you are a handy guy.

Our Carriage came with a pull shade which gives us the best of both worlds. It is a dark tan color and does keep it relativey dark. If an RV supply store an't help, you might try the blind section of say Home Depot or Lowes. If you have your inside measurements with you,you might just find what you need there. Diana

Sure, no problem but it will not be for a week. I'm not where my 5er is at the current time. Will be getting back to it in a few days.
