Just wondering if anybody out there has put a receiver hitch on the back of their fifth wheel. I am looking to tow a boat behind my 27' keystone cougar. Any thoughts or insight would be helpful.

I took mine to a good welding shop to see if they could fab one up.
$250 later I was on my way. Can't use it here in Oregon as I wanted
but that could change. Still good for bicycle rack.

Two (2) small problems that may arise: the particular trailer frame may not be strong enough to support a hitch load; check with the manufacturer. The increased load on the rear may cause the required pin weight on the hitch to be lighter and cause problems with towing. JWIHH.

Hi All.
Yes you can add a 2 inch reciever to the rear of your 5er. Just remember, that not all states allow double towing. We have a rear 2 inch reciever on our 5er. But on ours, we used it to mount a Customized 48 inch Chest Type Tool Box, on a 20X60 Platform, and we house our Twin Honda EU2000i's in it. Been doing this for over 3 years now, with no problems what so ever. Works for us. Good Luck. Happy Camping. Dan & Jill

I ordered mine from the factory with one but most of the manufacturers frown on putting one on. As stated earlier the frames may not be strong enough to support it. If it is newer rig I would contact your manufacturer/frame manufacturer and see if they would void your warranty on your frame if you installed one. If yours is out of warranty then it is up to you to fix no matter what happens. There are lots of people that have them and have never had a problem but there also have been some that have had problems with them. I know of one instance that the owner took his 5er back to the factory because he had a problem with the frame. He had installed a boat hitch on it. The factory repaired the frame but took the hitch off and told him if he put one back on don't bring it back for them to repair because they were giving him notice that their 5ers where not meant to have any hitch installed on it.

Purchased an adjustable motorhome reciever hitch(google it)and bolted it on the supplied factory mounts.Pilgrim must think it's OK.

Dependes on the frame the manufacturs told me on mine not to exceed 300# tongue weight .I pull a 32'yellowstone & a 30' pontoon w/ mine but i stay in my on state .
