Hi all:

Need your help.

I want a real comfortable sofa and a real nice bed in a sleep sofa. Can't seem to find both in one unit. I'm real tired of that miniature J thing they call a sofa and also would like our kids and guests to sleep in comfort.

I know someone who may design a super comfortable sleep sofa for us. But they want the effort to be worthwhile to develop to offer to future customers.

Two questions:

1) How would you rate your sleep sofa on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being best)?

2) Do you really need a sleep sofa in a Class A?

Just curious.

We took the thin mattress out and put in an air mattress. The sofa looks good, sleeps well and the cost was minimal.

We replaced our original jackknife style sofa with a leather Magic sofa - much more comfortable both day & night.

A) Setting- 5 or 6.....Sleeping- 8 or 9
Removed both sofas and gave them to houseboat owners at Raystown Lake.

2) Do you really need a sleep sofa in a Class A?
A) NO you don't. We bought 2 Lazy Boy recliners to replace our 2 sofas. Had a computer center built in where 1 sofa was and now are much happier.

Just curious.

I rate my sofa a 4 for sitting. Any jacknife only gets a 8 for my vote.

I like the lazy boy idea myself. Only you can answer this question. Do you have A LOT of overnighters? Is it worth the cost? Sleep on your sofabed/jacknife and find out for yourself.

The question is the same when it comes to kitchen table w/ chairs or a booth.....I vote table.

Have 'em sleep on an air matress on the floor w/ plenty of padding.

1. Our sofa is a great sleeper. The cushions that fold out are mattress-like. I think National RV had their own design or spec. for their couches. But, it is too short for me--only about 68". Also, the thick cushions make for a high sofa seat, so unless you have long legs, you need a footstool.
2. A second sleep area is essential to us for the grandkid visits and the occasional guest.

We have a 3-cushion Magic Bed Sofa by Flexsteel and I'd give it at LEAST 9 for both sitting and sleeping comfort. What we also like is the little extra space it takes when made into a bed and the fact that when the back cushions are removed, ONE person can sleep comfortably without even making it out. Last rig had a regular sofa sleeper and even though it made a queen bed, it rated about a 5 for sitting, a 3 for sleeping, plus it took the entire floor when made into a bed.

2) Do you really need a sleep sofa in a Class A?

As fulltimers, WE really need the extra bed(s) for the grandkids and occassional overnight adult guests.

I would give our Flex Steel sofa a 9. I fall asleep watching TV on it all the time!

The factory sleeper sofa mattress was a different story. Uncomfortable as heck. On the recommendations of some other members of this forum, I replaced it with an Air Dream mattress. 110% improvement! no more metal bar in the middle of your backside!

We have two opposing jack knife sofas (two teenagers) and they are comfortable to sit on and sleep on. I only have our home sofa to compare it to, so I would say sitting is an 8 and sleeping is an 8 also.

I have slept on it a few times and slept very well.
