Run, Run, Run from anything from Good Sam, especially Good Sam ERS., unless you like sitting on the side of the road waiting for the service you bought to never show up. Been there, done that, not a good feeling. I'm going to tell everyone I can about Good Sam and maybe I can keep someone else from having to go thru what I went through with Good Sam.

Sorry you have had such terrible service from Good Sam, especially their ERS.

I have been a member for the last 20 yrs.. and have traveled from coast to coast and used Gsrs coast to coast. I have been very satisfied with their services. Here is the list of services good sam road service has provided:
1. flat tires
2. sent a flat bed truck to carry the whole trailer when springs broke and wheels locked together, twice.
3. towed out of mud when stuck during hurricane in New York.
My only complaint has been talking with mechanically inexperienced representatives while I am trying to explain what the problem is and what I think will be needed to fix the problem and get me back on the road. i.e. On a SUNDAY afternoon when my rear spring broke on my trailer and the tires were locked together and the trailer would not roll, the representative wanted to just send a regular tow truck "who would have a rear spring to fit my specific trailer in their shop and would bring it out to my trailer and install it". I suggested that it would highly improbable that any regular tow truck would be carrying rear springs for a specific trailer and that I would suggest just sending out a low bed tow truck, wench the trailer up on the low bed and drive it to a qualified trailer shop which 25 miles from where we were broke down. Sending out a regular tow truck and then having to call for a low bed tow truck would only waste about 3 hours. I told the representative to call around to see what tow truck business would have a spring for my trailer on a Sunday and then call me back. She called me back in 10 min. and said she called 3 different tow truck operators and none of them had the spring--------and she would have a low bed tow truck out to pick up my trailer in 30 min.

I had to use the ERS from Good SAM twice now, last summer to tow my Motohome and this summer to tow my suburban. I am very happy with the service, it has saved me $500 to $1000 dollars all ready.

Used it 3 weeks ago in Ohio. Service truck was there in less than 1/2 hour, changed the flat, I followed him back to his shop (10 minutes away), where the flat was repaired , and we were on the road in just over a hour from 1st call to Good Sam. It don't get much better than that.

This thread has come up a hundred times-check the search feature! Frankly, I'm tired of the bashing GS ERS gets whenever this comes up. I have had it for alomost ten years and have never had a problem. You must understand that service companies don't just sit around waiting for your call. Somtimes they are busy with other calls, and respond in the order they are recieved, the only exception being an accident or other dire emergency. After the shafting I got from AAA, GS ERS is a delight. They cover all your vehicles, cover family members (living in the same house) at no added cost, and the unlimited towing is something to really look at. For me ERS is the best deal going for the price.

I’ve had to use Good Sam several times. Here’s a few examples

1. Wife locked keys in trunk at family reunion. It was located in a rural town in Florida, they were there in less than a hour.
2 Second time I used them, we were at Long Key in the Florida keys, wife laid the keys on the counter top and then went back out and shut the door, it locked behind her. I had a extra set in the truck but it was locked as well. They showed up in 45 minutes and that was in the Keys, unlocked my truck and we retrieved the camper keys.
3. Wife had a flat, called them they showed up and repaired the flat in 30 minutes.
4. Son’s truck wouldn’t start in the driveway, called them up and they towed it to a repair of his of his choice in town.
5.Son’s car, wouldn’t start , called them up and they towed it to the repair shop.

We’ve had great service with them, Coach Net couldn’t have done it anything better. Also you notice they never mention the price of Coach Net., I wonder why?

I’m sold on them.

I've used it twice in three years, once to get towed out of a sandy area on BLM land and again, just a couple of weeks ago for a front passenger side blowout. Both cases it didn't cost me a dime.

On the blowout, we were at the TSA checkpoint 9 miles south of Hoover Dam. After giving the ERS dispatcher detailed information as to exactly where we were, and having her read it back to me, she sent the guy 50 miles south east of where we were I called the garage that sent the guy and he couldn't be more apologetic. I was on his side, he received the wrong directions from the ERS dispatcher. It delayed my trip about 3 hours, but I got nothin' but time

Other than the tire delay I am very pleased with the service and would recommend it.

It's like anything else. They all can not be perfect and a tow/repair might take longer than someone elses call did. And I find it hard to believe with any of the companies discussed that they 'never' came out. A simple phone call back to them would have gotten answers about the ETA.

I have Good Sam for 4 years now, first trip out paid for the yearly fee. And then again when the neighbor kid locked my keys in the TV.

I think if you were able to chart the complaints and compare all them together they'd all be equal. IMHO I DO think that having one that is RV oriented is a big plus. They have contractors across the US for tow/repair. With your insurance company policy regarding tows, you are 'on your own' to find a tow AND you have to pay them and 'then' get reimbursed.

IMHO I'd rather have GS find me the nearest tow/repair, and 'not' have to pay for it on the spot.
