Staying at a KOA is two steps UP from being parked alongside the highway!

I am not going to shake the pom-poms for KOA's but I have found that most have been pretty decent to really nice places at the ones I have stayed at. Mt. Pleasant, TX, Flatwoods, WV, White River Junction ,VT Chattanooga,Lookout MT, TN to name a few that we recently stayed and the only one I thought really was pricey for what I got was the Frederciksburg, Virgina one.
One thing they do have is the easiest reservations system and followed by the quickest check-in than anywhere else I stayed. You know what the price is before you get there.

I would like to hear the follow up from the OP, I am curious how they pulled this off. From what I read on the web page the sites only handle up to 36ft so someone had to be awfully cramped.

I am always intrigued by those who intentionally make reservations at at KOA, know the charges in advance, and if you read much on this forum, know the general quality of the KOA experience as shared by dozens and dozens on this site, and then complain. KOA is what it is....it will never be a Thousand Trails, or any higher end RV Park...it fills a nitch. If you decide to buy a VW, and are disappointed when you take delivery that it doesn't look, or drive like a Mercedes....what can anyone say....we just sit here scratching our collective heads in wonderment.

If you want an honest review of any park before you book a site go to www.RVparkreviews.com. I have never been disappionted when relying upon their reviews. This KOA generally gets low ratings of 1-3 stars out of a possible 5 stars. I generally don't stay in a park that gets less than 4 stars average, unless I'm just looking for an overnight spot...in late, and out early.

I stayed at KOA's the cabins last summer.. I camped in them across the states from VA-CA I believe we stayed in 4 all together! all of them were nice and reasonable! Some better then others but for where we stopped at some of them there was not a big expectaion! Like the middle of Nebraska.. not near a big city LOL

Over all we have had great luck with KOA's we really like the on in Harpers Ferry and the one in natural bridge VA

summut2002 says it for me. Lots of good KOAs among a few bad ones. Often they are near big attractions and can ask big fees. Convenience costs. One of my favorites where we stay on the way from S. Calif. to the Yellowstone/Montana region is in Fillmore, Utah. Great mountains views, well run, lots of trees--good distance between sites.

Yo, John...Fillmore KOA is where I store my rig during the winter. Even tho they close in early December until April or so, they allow me to keep my rig there over the winter months so I can take it out from time to time and catch some Arizona/New Mexico sun. Park it next to a Deputy Sheriff who stays there full time. Nice folks.

I was looking at the KOA webiste for Jackson/Snake River and I can't see where they list any pull thru sites. All are listed as back ins. Do they have other sites that aren't listed on the website?

IMO, this is a typical experince at a KOA. I quit staying at KOA's years ago.

Glad that you liked Jackson.

I have had both good and bad experiences staying at KOA's enroute to our vacation destinations over the 32 years we have been RVing. Have also had good and bad experiences at other private campgrounds that we picked out of one of the Campground directories. In general though, the KOA's have been more consistent in meeting our limited expectations for an overnight stay than the other private campgrounds.

This forum is awesome. I learn something new almost every day. I had always thought KOA was just for overnighting. You see one on the side of the highway and duck in for the night. I did not know that people actually went to any KOA as a destination type campground.
