I have often thought of the possibilities of something like this. I guess it's time to stop thinking about it and start doing....

I am thinking of perhaps installing a small exterior (warning) light that would signal when any of the storage lights are on, or perhaps an easier method would be an externally mounted "master switch" for all of the storage compartment lights. At very least it may prevent a discharged battery.

We had the same thing happen with our pop-up in the front storage. Made a nasty mess, but we were more careful after that and we started taking the bulb out too just to be on the safe side. Our Starcraft had power to the storage compartment even with the top lowered.

Our palomino pup has power to the storage trunk as well with the top down. However, we have the sliding drawer in the trunk. You can see what I mean at www.palominorv.com. This I guess would prevent the light from catching anything on fire in case it did come on during travel or while sitting stationary.

Replace them with LED lights. They don't heat up as much.

I was considering installing lights in my pass-through. but this makes me have second thoughts. I guess LEDs would be fine.

I have the same type of light, but it's mounted overhead in the compartment(s). Any chance you'd want to relocate yours?

Our Monaco also has lights overhead in the compartments but
they have a switch on them but wont work unless the switch inside the coach is turned on.
I was considering changing them all to LED s.
I wonder if same problem would happen?
Arent the LED s suppose to be cooler running?
Iv also thought about changing the inside bulbs to LED s for the lower power consumption.

Just one reason I changed almost all my lighting to florescent lights. They use less amperage and do not get hot. Not too mention a plus when dry camping.

Notice you have a sticker from the Petoskey KOA, I used to live there for about 4 years, my aunt and uncle owned the barber/beauty shop right by the olesons supermarket.

probably not. I don't believe I have ever used it in the years we have bought the trailer.
