I have a 2007 Laaredo 29RL I do not see a outside vent for the hood vent over the stove. Does yours have a out side vent? It seems that all this hood is doing is circulating the air with in it self nothing is going outside I thought that the hood is supposed to vent to the outside and get the steam out of the coach. The hood is a Jenson by Elixir.I was thinking that they might have forgot too cut the hole for the vent maybe it was a Friday trailer.

Open the cabinets above the hood. If you see a metal exhaust stack, then it is vented.... maybe to the roof. I would say most vent hoods are not vented... they filter the air through metal mesh filters and the blow it back in to the kitchen. You should be able to feel this when its turned on.

There are vent hoods that do not vent to the outdoors. They "trap" the grease and odors in a internal mesh screen. You have to wash the screen occasionally. It is a prime example of the RV manufacturer cutting corners to save a few pennies.

We run our external vented hood whenever we use the stove or oven to make sure carbon monoxide doesn't build up inside the rv. And it vents moisture when boiling water. The hood you have might be capable of being vented to the outside, as often the "knock out plug" on back of the hood, if removed and an exterior vent installed in the rv wall, will vent to the exterior. Depending on the vent hood model.

I can't see how a steel mesh screen will get the moisture out which this is its main purpose. I have a Micro above the hood. the hood blows back on the stove. There is no vent on the roof and it not a down draft.

If it's not vented, I would highly recommend having an external vent added. It is very easy to cause moisture condensation in an RV due to high humidity from lack of venting. The little metal filter may trap a LITTLE grease, but no moisture.

We run the stove hood (ours is vented outside) whenever cooking, and the bathroom vent fan whenever using the shower to keep moisture down.

On the Jayco Desinger If you get the standard microwave it's vented to the outside. If you opt. for the convection oven it is vented into the camper. Jayco does this only because the holes in the back of the microwave and convection over are in different places on the back of the units and they only build the wall one way. If your unit is mounted to the wall you can take down your micro wave which is probably only 4 bolts. The mounting plate attached to the wall should have the cut out for the outside vent. If your brave enough to cut a hole in the side of the camper do so. I would suggest you only cut the surface panel first to make sure there is nothing behind it like wires or frame. You have to add a vent to the outside of course and redirecting the vent on the microwave should be as easy as removing a plate flipping it over and reattaching it. I just did this to my convection oven.

My Bighorn does has a exhaust, it also has latches on the outside so you can close the vent when you are moving.

Our "cheapie," "entry-level" 2003 Dutchmen Classic vents directly through the side of the trailer through a louvered grate. It's a Ventline hood exhaust, with a light that alluminates the stovetop, and sucks everything outside, even my noxious cigarette smoke, much to Other Half's relief. It's a nosiy sucker, but it works extremely well.
Cheers,

My 07 Laredo 29 RK is the same way.

Oh but the mesh filter should have some kind of thin charcoal (or black at least) inser in the filter.

Not to worry once you get over the shock, you still got overhead vents and a powered on in the poo poo lounge.
