I'm not sure if I am using the right term or not, but I would like to hear about folks that either dry camp or boondock, which ever is correct, along the Alcan highway at the various places near streams or other areas. Are the wildlife a problem ( bears)? If so, is there any tried method of dealing with them? Is trying to do this just out of the question and are CG's the only solution?
WE boon-docked from Missouri to Anchorage and back, we never seen a
Bear, when their was a wide place in the road we made a camp, several times along streams, the Mosquitoes were the worse thing we had to put up with, going up they were small just buzz and bother you coming home they would pack you off,

I'm not a big booddocker. But I always stop at the Swift River at KM 1124. Nice big flat area. And usually several-many others will stop there also.
Also Upper Gnat Lake along the Cassiar.
States I have spent the night in my current rig, bought three years ago.
Have RV'ed through 49 states and been in all 50, just short of my half-century.
The boondocking is great and anywhere the road is wide enough to get safely off, is generally OK. There are many Provincial Parks and rest areas, plus most fuel stops and restaurants will allow you to stay on their property, if you buy fuel or food, plus most have water and a dump station. We found that the true RV parks are few and far between, so we always dry camp until we get to the area we plan on spending time. As far as bears, no problems as long as you keep a clean campsite, except in the Russian River area, where they have learned how to harass the RVers and get fish thrown to them. LOL.
