Our grandaughter was only a couple weeks old when went camping for the first time. Also had a tornado rip through the campgrounds, and she never woke up. Couple tents ruined but no one hurt.

I've seen people camping with new borns (less than 2 weeks old) several times over my years. I don't think the babies care one way or the other. It's the mothers I wondered about? But what better way to recover from a birth than camping?

No age is too young! Heck, don't even take them home before you leave to go camping!

Great topic!! If our son gets out like they say he does and he does well up to Sept. guess where we're going? It might be a bit different with him though.

We bought our first RV when our daughter was one, she loved being outside and playing. We camped though my entire pregnancy with my son up until 3 weeks till he was due. We took our first trip with him when he was 3 weeks old. I had the best time, because I could actually relax and not worry about doing everything around the house. They are now 4 and 2, they look forward to going camping every month.

This past weekend we has a 2 week old across from us. We also had several that were not much older then that. I can honestly say it was the most babies I had seen while camping.

My daughter was just over a year old when we started. We tented for 6 or 7 years. We eventually got a PUP, and now an HTT. BTW, she's 24 now and still loves camping with us. She has her own tent which is nice because it leaves the trailer for the wife and I. In fact, we have a tough time getting rid of her!

I think no age is too young to take them camping. However, I do believe its VERY important for the planning of every trip to involve the entire family. When the kids get old enough, allow them to be make suggestions and chioces, making sure to include the activities that they want to do, even if you hate the idea. And we also did not have a TV until a few years ago. We spent our time hiking, biking, and playing games together. I wouldn't change any of it.
