When you are at Pennekamp get in a kayak and check out the "Trail of Tears" - Lots of laughs !
Or better yet if you are a hard core paddler do a 18 mile circumnavigate heading out of south sound creek, turning north and paralleling the front of El Radabob Key. then go around Rattlesnake Key and return via North Sound Creek and the sound.
When your out front of El Radabob check the mangroves for hidden abandoned Cuban refu gee boats. there are usually a couple of them there.
When your at Long key get in your kayak and paddle north and then around to Long Key Bite and see if that big wheel barrow is still in the water near the mangroves.
when Your at Bahia Honda, get in your kayak and one day head around to the back side and pull up on that nice sand bar where the dead tree is out in front. It is a great place for a swim, or another day go out front to that little Island at low tide and look at asll the critters in the tide pools.
When your at Curry Hammock get in your kayak and go clockwise and keep going clockwise until you come to that little cut that goes under the entrance road. After you go under it, head out front but bear a little to the north east and check out the sandbar that is out there.
Love the Keys !
My favorite place during the winter months, and I have over a hundred paddling destinations that put me and my wife in a wilderness paradise.
I know you didn't say anything about going to Key West,... but....
I would like to have a picture of this camera at sloppy joe's. I watch this camera a lot,... but I wonder what the camera looks like. Live Duval Street Web Cam at Sloopy Joe's

State Park sites in the Keys are only $31 a night. Much better than the $50-140 for other places. A lot nicer, too.
There is a big reason for being cheaper this time of year,,,,,,,,,Hurricane season.
A tropical storm is brewing out there as we speak........be careful..........no place to be in an RV!

Yes take photos of Long Key. Heard they removed some of the non-native plants. Down there last October, loved Long Key(Site 55), Bahia Honda (Site 22)was great too. Check out the No Name Pub. Can't tell you where it is, part of the fun is finding it. (Take dollars.) Watch out for the Key Deer.
Have fun

What's with triker33 He is giving we bikers a bad name. Don't complain unless you have walked in my shoes. We just made a 150 mile round trip from Parhump to east of Vegas. It was on a big bike at 113 degrees. In the shade and their isn't any on a bike.

Don't listen to triker33. He hasn't been in my shoes. We just biked 150 miles yesterday. From Parhump to east of Vegas. It was 111 degrees in the shade. And their isn't any on a bike. Go and enjoy. You will almost always have a nice breeze.
We're back. Had a great time and got a few pictures.
Luke, when we got to Bahia Honda and took a look at sites 19 and 20. It rained pretty hard that morning so we stayed in the car. But we were actually fortunate to come along when we did. As you can see, site 20 has poor drainage. The picture was taken about 20 minutes following the storm and there was still a good 1 - 2 inches of water that took up most of the site.
Site 19 on the other hand, drained off much quicker.
Islandtime, site 45 was wide and and looked like a nice comfortable spot.
