We often ask, "Where are the campers?", when we travel. Many of us know that there are certain regions of the country that they are more popular but HOLY COW did I hit the mother load this weekend!
We went to Brownlee Reservoir which lies in Hells Canyon on the Idaho/Oregon Border. It is known for its fishing and to be honest, there isn't much else to do there. As we all know, the best rig for boaters is a camper.
I'd say that at least 30% of the RV's there were campers along with a boat trailer tucked in their space. Yes, we had our boat but we fished from shore and caught more Crappie than you could shake a cheap collabsible fishing pole at!
thanks you just let the cat out of the bag. there goes the good fishing now for sure. been going there since the 60's. have you been caught in a cattle drive yet? if you do be sure to wash the under side of your boat or camper. the smell is bad if you don't. the heat just makes it worse. LOL

I second that. Got caught in a cattle drive last fall in Colorado. Fortunately I could go straight to a relative and wash off the mess. And what a mess it was. We were driving for several miles wondering why all the cattle poop was in the road. Then we caught up with the drive. About 500 head. Took 1/2 hour to move thru the herd and even then with some judicious help from the boss, moving the critters aside for us to plow thru. Now I know what my bull bar is for on the front of my truck! LOL.

No No No... I heard that all the truck campers are going SOUTH... There is ABSOLUTLY NOTHING up here in the NW that is fun or exciting... Unless you call Campin, Fishin, and a TC your 2nd home...

If you go to the high cascades in the spring right after the fishing season opens, you'll see a LOT of TCs with boats in tow. For many of the retirees w/o kids, a 8' camper and a boat is a perfect fishing combination.

Oh...you're absolutely right! I forgot. Yep, south is the place. What I thought were lots of campers were, in reality, herds of caribou and a few 'Bigfoot'. No longer a legend, I guess.

This was our first time there. We stayed at Woodhead Park on the Idaho side. I don't know why the word "wood" is in the name, but after a weekend of 100* temps with no shade, we're getting A/C before we go back!
We drove in at night and there were a few "slow moving rocks" lurking in the shadows, but no cattle drives. Our dog chewed on some weeds she shouldn't have which resulted in me hosing out her crate and washing the carpet and walls in our camper in the middle of the night. Does that count?
