Just curious how everyone thinks when it comes to keeping a stick home and hitting the road 4-6 months out of the year.
I've thought about buying a house up North (WA, MT, NY ect.) and traveling during the winter but...that doesn't leave many states or places without snow & keeps us stuck during the summer when the rest of the country is beautiful.
So instead we're going to keep the house in AZ (great place to winter) and travel during the summer so we're not stuck in one place. I think over all we'd see more of the U.S. and still have a great place to come back to without snow.
How many others are thinking along this route???

We also want to keep a stick house where winter is mild and we can travel as we please and not have to worry about the house. Working so far

I already have my spot in San Diego Co that I bought 3 years ago. I hope to semi-retire in 2 years and probably will like to take down old house there and build a new one, but in the mean time tenants bring nice income.
Lot of people assume something without actually checking. I bought the 2.5 acres very cheap and being 15 miles from the Ocean and 600 feet above the place has AC requirement optional. Actually the sellers never had AC. The spot has perfect weather 56 weeks in the year, so even when I travel I will not have to avoid certain months for coming back.

I'm certainly happy with our choice. Before I built the house I made sure I had good neighbors, and it has worked out really well. One of them has keys to my house, and I have keys to their house.
A central geographical location (in the sunbelt), and where I can keep the MH in the back yard,....and really close to all the places we frequently visit, it's hard to beat.

exactly...we'll leave the heat in the summer, travel around all the beautiful places and have a great place to come back to.
I'm surprised more folks don't do this also...

The only downside is that you will be traveling in summer when everyone else is traveling. And it gets surprisingly hot in most of the country, we have found. Fall is good, though, just about anywhere.
