Stopping on our way home from camping, I switched the pump on in the trailer, and water started pumping out of the city connection "hose entrance". What do I look at first?

look to see if you have a valve or a switch to transfer to the pump.

There is a check valve just on the other side of the connection, you might try and remove the sceen and see if it's closing or if there is something holding it open or just stuck. It is spring closed, so the there might be a problem with the spring, for now just see if you can get to close by pushing it. Bill

Most trailers simply have a "check valve" right at the water connection. If this is improperly seated, or has gotten some contamination in it (maybe something was in your water hose when it was hooked up last) it will allow the water to come back out. Of course there is the possibility the valve itself has broken, possibly the spring that closes it.

MOST of the time when they blow water by the check valve you need to replace the water inlet (with the valve intact). I haven't seen one where the valve can be repaired. Takes about 10 minutes to replace the connection and costs are minimal.

Try hooking a hose at home and simply see if the pressure from your hose will reseat the value. I have to do that to mine after pressing for winterizing.

I replaced mine when that happened to me this spring. Easy job to replace. The spring wasnt allowing the pin to come back enough to stop the water back pressure. You can do this yourself....the whole peice on mine is now replaced. 3 screws on the outside of the TT and undo the water line on the inside.

in the meantime, until you get it fixed you can just use a in-line hose shut off or hose screw in cap...
