Is there a propane fridge you can get that doesn't require a hole in the roof? I am retrofitting a v-nose car/hauler and would like to not put a hole in the roof. A hole in the side isn't that bad but a hole in the roof doesnt really make me feel happy.

thanks for your time.

In the proccess of converting a interstate V-Sport trailer into a toy hauler because they dont make drive in drive out toy haulers that can haul a car. Radio (check) Stove (check) , HEAT (check), Now a Bed (zzzzzz)

Pop up trailers that have very small refrigerators vent the burner out the side but that would be a tiny refrigerator. I'm not sure I've ever seen any of the larger models without a roof vent. If you don't dry camp consider putting a 120 volt AC fridge inside so you don't have a burner to vent. It'd end that old debate about "gas on or off"

Look at a PUP and you can see that they go out the side because of the roof going up and down. You could adapt yours to this configuration but the fridge is small and you may want a larger firdge.

My friends Big Sky does not have a vent out the roof. It has 2 side vents one right above the normal side vent.

All the fridges in slides vent out the side. I had one side vent fridge and that will be the last one. It wouldn't keep anything cool and the freezer was totally worthless. Craig

you could probably go out the side just below the roof with duct work and a grill over the hole, you would probably also need a fan running during warmer weather to get the air flowing for ventalation which you need for better cooling.maybe a solar panel hooked to a fan direct to run when the sun comes up for air flow.

I explored different options as i didn't want to do that either and I found the smaller capacity gas fridges you can get away with two side holes, one being an intake and one being an exhaust and a 12 volt fan will add to the efficiency. Start looking into the fridge you would like and research their installation requirements.
I installed 12ft. living quarters in a cargo van.

My DP has a double door fridge in a kitchen slide with wall vents and it works great. It does have a thermostatically controlled fan.

We had a big Norcold 4 door fridge/freezer in our last 2005 Diesel Bounder that had 2 external side access panels. Worked great, so it can be done. You need a few additional heat shields, but it's very common. Look at any rig with the fridge in a slide.

Yes. they vent back out of the side

Also, Norcold had a couple of models that don't use propane, they are 120/12 volt. I'm not sure if you can get one in the size you want though. (They draw less than 40 watts (4 amps on battery) so they are real nice.. I have a competitor's portale product in my kitchen)
