My new Crossroads Seville 34CK arrived at the dealer last week and finally got down to the see it and do a predelivery inspection. Well, although we loved the trailer overall I certainly have some concerns. Besides all the little niggly stuff you usually find, there were a few major things. The optional (list $1100) LEATHER sofa is actually vinyl/leatherette/naugahide/? but most certainly isn't leather, albeit sure beats the material on the standard sofa. Also on close inspection I noticed that yes, the exterior walls and endcaps are gelcoat, but the door and all compartment doors are "Filon". Has anyone ever seen this before on any product or on any other Crossroads Seville? Needless to say my cheque is still in my pocket and the dealer is scrambling to sort things out. Thanks, Tim

My 2007 Montana is the same way re the gelcoat (no gelcoat on the entrance door or basement doors). Understand the new ones are all gelcoat.

Our 2008 Jayco Designer is like that. Entrance door and basement doors are filon. Wish they were gel-coat. Love the slick shiny finish. Also easy to keep clean.

Typical to have standard baggage doors, it wouldn't stop me from taking delivery. Since even BMW & Mercedes have "leatherette" seats and so does my wife's 40K Avalanche with ONLY the seating surface being real leather I'd say it's industry standard.

Are you considering refusing the unit and looking elsewhere?

The reason they use other materials than leather in seating applications, is the leather dose not stretch. If they used leather for the entire cushion you would be tearing out the material. This has been an on going problem for years, in the furniture Industries, and the automotive Industries

If they said Leather it should be leather and not vinyl.

I guess I am just a little disillusioned. To me if you say that the exterior is Gelcoat then all fiberglass on the exterior should be gelcoat, but from the responses to my post this costsaving measure seems to have become an industry standard so I probably don't have much of an argument. With regards to the leather issue I believe it to be outright fraud. This sofa does not have ANY leather in it, not even the seating area. There is more leather in my shoes. If it is only leatherlook, then it should be called that, not leather. Will I refuse the unit? No, but I am probably looking for a rebate on the sofa option.

I would certianly agree with you on the sofa, if NO leather is on it then you need a rebate. As I posted earlier, typically at least the seating surface is leather.

We have the Gelcoat exterior option on our Paradise Pointe and it is the same way on the storage doors and the entry door. No big issue for us as most of the other brands are the same way. Now for the leather sofa, if I ordered it with leather and it was an option cost of $1100 it had better all be leather when it got here.
