We spent a lovely 4th weekend at Four Paws campground in Rutherfordton, nc. A great campground for dogs and their humans. We met a woman who had converted her toyota sienna minivan into a camper and traveled around the country with her dog who belongs to the Dog scouts of america. He even has a uniform and badges! (I found this very amazing) I told her about the R V Net forum for B's but she was sure her little camper didn't qualify. I invited her to join because I thought anything that small had to be a B. If not, then what? As usual, we did a lot of show and tell about our B. The only one there, although we did see a pleasureway on the way up parked at a Love's in Morganton.

If it is van based, has sleeping, cooking and some sort of bathroom facilities... I would say it is a 'B'.
If gas prices keep rising.. we might consider converting our Scion Xb

And if you get her to join, she needs to look at this thread:

I assume that her conversion was done by GTRV? I purchased my new Sienna with the same idea in mind. I think of it as a B minus.

Even if it's not a 'true' or 'full' Class B RV, it sounds like it'd still qualify as a 'Camping Van Conversion'. The forum title might be clearer if the dash was replaced with a '&' symbol (a _very_ minor nitpick). Of course, she may be under-equipped to qualify for the IRS second home deduction....

Do the GRTV minivan conversions, specifically the Sienna conversion, have a sink and running water? Do they have propane? Can you have a place to hold a portapotti? It looks really interesting to me.

Yes, you can have a sink and running water... and propane to run the cooktop... but I suspect that holding tanks and propane tank will be smaller than the average RT/PW.
..and a portipotti is going to have to be just sitting there. (you can see the set-up on the pictures in my link above.)

Thanks, Mumkin
I couldn't tell if there was a cook top or sink from the pictures. I was hoping that a little compartment could be made under the back seat/bed where the portapotti could ride, so that it would only have to be out when in use. Do you know if you can get privacy curtains for the Sienna?

The Sienna Minivan discussion pales in comparison to the mention of Dog Scouts of America and Dog Scout Merit Badges...looks like my dogs would qualify for the "Overnight Camping" badge, and that's about it.
Gee...you never know what you're going to learn in this forum.

It might be able to fit in the back when the bed is in seat position. But, I'm just guessing here... and you would probably have to open the rear door and carry it to the front.

Yes, they have a curtain system although I have never seen it live and in person - and it doesn't show up very well in the pictures that I have.

(PS... LYZ... I read about some of the badges and my mother's dog would only be eligible for a cuteness badge if they have one. Obedience? not so much...)
