I use Caftsman 1.5 horsepower, 2 gallon tank. Would not travel without it. I bought it at Orchard Supply. $99.00 with a no tax day.

For portable ... MV-50 for 12v ... Keep in tow vehicle at all times - light weight - works great - plenty of capacity for my TV and trailer 10 ply 80 PSI tires ...
MV-50 at Amazon - Free ship
For the house I use a Makita "Hot Dog":

About how long does it take to inflate a average truck tire up from say 40 lbs to 80 lbs (285/75/16 ) I have used the old 12V and they are pretty slow. Thanks

Have needed it in a pinch at rest stops...I feel secure knowing it's in the back.
My $.02 is all.....enjoy the journey..
By the way, HUTCH, did you race BMX back in the early days?
Nope, but I did flattrack a 40" Triumph back in the late 60s/early 70s, (T-120 w/'Trackmaster' frame). District 36 Sportsman Expert...73R.
Those were the good old days for sure

I've never done exactly that ... but this is a hi-flow pump (2.54 CFM) ... It is not your typical little 12v pump ... I'd say it could do that in 1.5 to 2 minutes. I have used it go from 65 to 80 PSI in a 16" tire and it took about 30 seconds ... It pulls more current than most cigarette lighter plugs can supply, so it comes with clamps that you apply directly to your 12v battery.

I have a Porter Cable pancake but wish I had the Husky. It's okay if I want to add 5 lbs but takes forever if adding 20 lbs.

I would use a heavy duty air compressor like for off road ect.
I use the extreme outback jr compressor I have had it for about 3 yrs now and I love it I can run it continuous if I want and it will not shut off like the other that plug into the cigarette lighters also the off road compressors come with heavy duty fittings and can be easily adapted to run air compressor tools {impact wrench ect.}
hope this helps
happy camping and good luck

The only trouble I have found with the 12 volt is that with no tank the moisture does not collect and is pushed into the tire. With a tank the moisture collects to be drained out later. Probably a minor issue but the nitrogen people would have a cow.
