Getting ready to leave for a trip tomorrow and after I hooked up I did my pre-tow check of all the lights. My right rear turn signal is not working on the trailer. It's only the turn signal function. The brake and running lights work fine on that side and everywhere else.

First thing I did was switch the bulbs and ruled that out. Then I cleaned the 7-pin connector and then checked the fuses in the tow vehicle.

All with no luck. Any suggestions on where else to check? They have worked fine before, but the trailer has been sitting for a few months, so I'm pretty sure something is dirty somewhere, but not sure where else to look.

The tow vehicle is a Chevy 2500HD.

You can check between pin 5 (left turn signal) and pin 1 (ground) with a multimeter or 12 volt tester to see if you are getting current at the plug when the turn signal is on.

If you get power there you know it's in the trailer wiring.

Look in your 2500 Hd on the drivers side fuse block on the side of the dash They have seperate fuses for trailer turn signals. I've had this happen twice when I had my HD. Hopes this helps

Thanks. I did check the fuses. There are 4 right? 2 for each side, which seemed a little confusing. I checked them all to be sure. I'm going to take it to my friend's shop tomorrow to have him take a look.

Fixed it. Turned out to be a dirty connection within the tailight assembly. I had to remove the pop-rivets and clean everything up. While I was in there I put a bead of waterproof silicone around the base of the lamp as it appeared that water had gotten in. The hardest part was putting everything back together. The rivets are installed through the thin fake diamond plate, so the holes had gotten bigger when I removed the stock rivets. I ended up turning the assembly slightly and drilling new holes so that I had a fresh area for the new rivets to grab.

Thanks for all the help.
