Pilot Knoll park in Highland Village on Lake Lewisville, very nice and well shaded lots, Hickory Creek Park on Lake Lewisville.COE I believe. Both of these are very close to the cities you mentioned. The Vineyards on Lake Grapevine is also nice but a bit farther away.

Hope these help.

While not a KOA or COE, we frequently go to Ray Roberts Lake State Park at Pilot Point.

We live in the Denton area.

The Hickory Creek COE Park, just off I35 on Lake Lewisville, is beautiful! The sites on the cove are great...I think the numbers are in the 80's or 90's. You can find a map of the park on-line.

We might be going to Denton in a week or two. Unfortunately, at current gas prices and 8 to 9 MPG we would be looking at $1000 for gas so we will be taking the wifes car at 25 MPG ($350 for gas) and moteling it. It's sad when moteling it is cheaper than camping.

Since no one has mentioned Destiny RV, I will. It is I-35E on the southbound side, just be low Denton. They are closer to Denton than the COE parks are but are not on the lake. They were a former KOA. They have been great people to work with and the park seems very nice.

If you are considering Lake Ray Roberts, I'd suggest reservations pronto. Before this last fuel cost surge, it was all but impossible to get a reservation there within a couple of months. Perhaps everything has changed now.

If you are going to be there over a weekend, take the above advise. Destiny IMO, is your best shot. I sure would not spend a weekend on the lakes COE/state parks. It is a hoot!!!!!!!!!!

Totally agree. Pilot Knoll and Hickory Creek are the two best values on that side of the lake and they are both nice. Hickory Creek has the best access to I-35. Pilot Knoll honors the Golden.* passports as well, but reserve early, they fill up quickly. If you wish to call, their number is 1-940-455-2228. The COE phone number is 1-877-444-6777.

I've been to both many times over 5 years and on the weekends they aren't much different from any other good places around Dallas. If you need full hookups though Hickory Creek may not be your best bet although their dumpstation is easy to get in and out of. Destiny is by the highway so never camped there, would rather see trees and I'm too cheap lol.

Welcome to Texas, we're glad you are coming. !!!
