Well it has taken several months but my insurance company and I have agreed on the amount to fix a whole in the roof caused by a tree limb that fell through it. We are now in the decision mode of actually what to fix, what to modify, etc. For instance instead of patching the roof we have decided to put a max air fan with a cover in place (actually required to create a bigger hole). We are going to get a custom bed made as the old one was ruined (we like the heated matress, but hate the firmness). The floors and walls are all in good shape, but we are going to replace the carpet. Now what else? I have decided to get slide toppers, and electric tongue jack installed, a hitch with a platform on the back and outside speakers installed. our rig is a 2007 and was really loaded, but these are a few things that i have always wanted to add, any other suggestions?

sorry just to add. When we initially started this the goal was to send the whole unit back to the factory to replace the fiberglass roof rather than patch it. But since the process took so long (since March) i have decided against that and opted for the fan install to save time and money

lol, well lets just say the several months wait was worth the payout. What is nice about the insurance company i deal with is they want to make sure they make you whole (or hole in the this case) again. It is just a matter of my version of whole or theirs. In reality it was in between both

Several months for the payout, now several MORE months to fix it.

There goes the summer. I don't think you'll be "lol" about that.

I hope they are not settling to replace the roof and you are using the money to do all other items. If roof gets damaged again and you cannot show proof that it was replaced you will be SOL

How about putting in a ceramic toilet? BTW, I think the new vent to repair the hole was really creative!

I would have the insurance company put in writing that repairing the roof as you have described makes the roof totally insurable in the event you have damage to roof in the future. A 10 min. hail storm in Texas cost $8000 to replace the roof on a 32' trailer and $7000 to repair my Dodge truck. Better to know up front what your insurance is willing to cover in the future. What is the insurance company going to do if your roof springs a leak after you patch the roof instead of replacing the whole roof?

I like the vent idea for the hole! Smart and functional!

actually one week for repair to roof (install of fan) and to replace carpet. I just talked with the dealer he indicated two more weeks for the upgrades (plus some warranty work i needed done). So we are looking at end of July. I think it helps that the whole time my unit was damaged it has been sitting in one of their bays waiting for the insurance to come through. Frankly they want it out. Which is a ok by me
