We plan to spend several nights in RV resorts in Redding and Indio CA. However, there doesn't seem to be many places where we can stop for the night between the two cities. (Once, we did stay in Lost Hills and did not care for it.) Any recommendations of safe and clean stopovers between Redding and Indio CA? We like to drive 200-300 miles in a days.

Are you wanting to stay on I5? If you have the time, you might want to travel west to Hwy 101.
If you travel west (at Lost Hills) on Hwy 46 to Paso Robles there are nice places there (http://www.woodalls.com/search/camp/index.cfm/Action-results/type-RV/s-CA/c-PASO%20ROBLES/Campgrounds-true/PASO-ROBLES-campgrounds/). The town is great and you can tour some local vinyards while there.
North from Paso Robles on Hwy 101 is San Lorenzo Park in King City (http://www.co.monterey.ca.us/parks/sanlorenzo.html). San Lorenzo Park has some pull through sites and full hookups. You can tour several historic buildings on the site (one-room school house, museum, agricultural center, the original train depot, beautiful park, etc). There is shopping and restaurants about a three minute drive from San Lorenzo Park. There is also laundry facilities right in the camp ground.
From there you can continue up Hwy 101 to Redding.

Depends on what you are looking for. We also avoid Lost Hills (what a dump!) and don't care for the KOA at Lodi, either. There is a very nice county park at Lathrop (south of Stockton), just a few miles off the freeway (exit 463 from I-5). It's called the Dos Reis Park, a part of the San Joaquin County park system. Full hookups for $20.
