Well the tires on the Expedition are just short of 5 years old. 255/80/22.5 xrv Michlin's. If I replace with goodyear G670' 275/70/22.5s best price I got (from goodyear) is 3200 bucks total..If I buy replacement XRV Michlins from Costco and have them mounted and balanced by truck tire store is 2645 bucks. I have gotten prices for everybody that sells G670's and they all blame the extra cost on price of fuel.
Then Michlins on the Expedition have 53000 miles on them and still look good but are starting to show stree cracks in sidewall...

Both are a decent tire. Verify the dates before you have them mounted.. I can see going to a larger diameter to bet a better mileage but why narrower??? Also you will need to get you speedo calibrated or use a GPS for your speed and mileage in the future

HUH? You think going from a 255-80 to a 275-70 is a NARROWER tire??

I thought the Candians were used to the Metric system. 275 is Wider than 255, not narrower

The two tires are almost identical rolling radius so no recalibration is needed.

Now, what exactly was the question?

I'd do a search on XRV as you may be the only person to get 5 years out of yours without serious problems. I from what I've read I would not buy a XRV for my DP.

I just paid 424 each unmounted for Goodyear G670's. 275/70r/22.5.
I had to replace my former 670's due excessive outside wear at 22,000 miles. Don't really understand as I did an alignment at 11000.

The last two MH I owned had xrv on them and never had so much as a flat tire and I am sure this is true about 99% of the xrv owners. Some people read about a few people that have problem and without knowing fully why they had problem think that every body that has them will have problems.

I believe you need to learn how to read tire sizes.
