We are about to take the plunge on a new TV and want some of your expert opinions to help us make up our minds. We will be towing a 08 Jayco 213 Exp which maxes out at 5500 lbs.
Option #1
05 Dodge Durango Ltd 4X4, 5.7 litre Hemi/Magnum able to tow 8650 lbs.
Option #2
05 Dodge 1/2 ton Ram 1500 Slt Quad cab 4X4, 5.7 litre Hemi/Magnum able to tow 8600 lbs.
I'm liking the Ram while the DW is leaning toward the Durango. Tough choice!! Your input will be gratefully accepted!!
Thanks in advance.....

I'd take the truck's longer wheel base over the suv for towing any day.

I personally like the truck over the Durango. The bed of the truck holds a ton of stuff which you will no doub tfill to capacity the longer you have your camper. Good luck.

Although the Durango's wheelbase should be marginally adequate I would still rather have the Ram for future trailer considerations and overall utility value.

With that size trailer either vehicle should tow it easily. Get the one you like best.

The Ram hands down, you can haul more stuff, have a longer wheel base, and they just look cooler!

What's the GVWR of each vehicle? Our 2004 Durango had a GVWR of 6600 lbs. When we added the hitch weight and all of the other stuff, we were there or above.
Edited to change GCWR to GVWR.
