We will be spending about five weeks in Canada camping.
Will I be able to get the coordinates to set the satellite by using the Canadian postal codes instead of U.S. zip code?

I'm sure if you contacted Dish and asked for the settings for the areas you will be staying they would give them to you.
I'll do some searching for you on the web and post any info for you.

I believe Dish is licensed to do business in the U.S. only.

I believe that iguana07 is correct. Don't think Dish is not licensed to send its signal north of the border.

Even though dish isn't licensed to sell it's product in canada, it's signal, depending on where you are, you may still be able to pickup. Google the coordinates of the satellite you're looking for and you should be able to find the "general" location of the bird you're looking for. From there you can use the signal/strength meter to lock in on the bird.

It's not easy, but it's not difficult either.

Last year we used our dish on the way through Canada to Alaska. Just like in the states I didn't change the zip code setting on the receiver. I use a satellite tuner to get a strong signal moving antenna from east of south toward west until signal peaks. Satellite 110 will come in first then 119. Then adjust the antenna up or down to get best signal on the Satellite tuning page. Make sure you have the right satellite selected for channels you want. For us it was 119 for everything but local. Local channels were on 110.

The satellites get lower in the sky as you move north. Start off with your home elevation and then go down as you move north. Remember the elevation from your last setup and use it to start at the next campground.

Eventually you won't be able to get them. Trees will be even worse enemies that in the states as they will be blocking more of the signal. You will definitely loose the local channels sooner as they are spot beams.

Basically I wouldn't waste my money as the scenery is so great you won't be watching it much anyway.

That's my opinion, for what it's worth.

Dish network works on the same satellites as Bell Expressvu. You seem to be able to pick up dish Network using an expressvu dish. Look up the co-ordinates for the Expressvu dish in the Canadian area where you are going and you will get the settings for Dish.

Nope. They use the same KIND of satellite but not the same actual satellite.

Bell uses a satellite at 91w for most channels and 82w for HD and ethnic. Dish uses 119w for general programming and 110w for ppv and others. Dish also uses other sats but 119 and 110 cover the majority of programming.
