Just returned from a 1700 mile trip to Utah and back, and not only was the RV traffic about what I have seen in past years, the RV Parks were full wherever we went. The RV park people we talked with said they were as busy, if not busier than the prior years. The only difference they noted was where the patrons were coming from.....mostly from closer localities than prior summers, but coming nevertheless. In talking with many fellow RVers on this trip I found that in spite of gas/diesel prices they went ahead with their travel plans. Now, if this continues to next summer, that will probably be a different story.

By the way....just heard that oil dropped $5.00 per barrel today...biggest drop in one day since 1991.

I thought the same thing until yesterday. I went out on the bypass and was surprised at how many rvs I did see. I always drive the beach road and every now and then I will see a rv, but yesterday I got out on the hwy and man was I surprised. They are all over here!!!

The CG we were at Meadville PA (near Erie) was completely full but did not see another out of state tag beside ours. Also I was the only one flying the "Stars and Bars".

And you know this how???? You have access to the holiday receipts from both industries???

From all of the previous posts, your limited observation seems to be off base!

We just drove from northern California to Portland Oregon, during the last weekend. While I have not drove this road in over 14 years, I could not believe how many RV's we saw! There were motorhomes, and trailers of every size/style, & shape! They may have been making shorter runs with them, but there were sure lots of people out there going camping.

The Forth of July weekend travel on I-95 and I-26 proved to be devoid of the usual RV traffic. Only a few were out in their RV's, compaired to years past when everyone that had one was on the road either headed to the ocean or mountains. Many high MPG sedans and small SUV's were seen. The mix included many fivers, very few trailers, and of the RV's many were new class A's. Some RV rentals were seen with one broken down on the shoulder, as they seem to be older class C's. Hotel's did better than RV parks, as the fuel prices head to $5.00 a galon here in the USA.

Based on what a lot of others have said, maybe you were just on the wrong road or at the wrong time. If you RV and have invested that type of money the small increase in fuel cost shouldn't effect those that can afford to RV in the first place. For a 2,000 mile trip the increase in fuel from $3 to $5 will only cost me around $400 more.

We re heading home from visiting family in Utah.
The park we stayed at was slightly fuller than when we were there before.
After leaving the park and heading towards home, most of the RV rigs we saw were trailers and a few rental Class C's
The resort we re at in Vegas, has a mixture of Class A's and C's
Overall, i would say there are the same traveling now as we ve seen in the past

We were in Fredericksburg, TX at Oakwood RV Park. They probably had 20% of the park empty.
