Festus, you nailed it!
Probably end up removing formaldehyde form the embalming process since it could be hazardous to the deceased's health.

I don't know what if anything will come from the political posturing. but I do believe the RV industry is far to under regulated as far as quality and safety issues are concerned...
more than just formaldehyde need to be addressed to make a difference...

I guess this means Roger Clemens is off the hook?
In all seriousness however, I do thin the RV industry is long overdue for some sort of regulation on construction and buyer protection. Housing inspections don't cover them, yet neither do DMV laws. The way someof these things are assembled and sent to market show there is no QC in the RV business. As a former QA Manager I would be embarassed to say I let some of these units off the lot with a signed off inspection. Just look at the items most PDI's uncover. Some are related to transport, but many, like lack of nails/staples and sawdust/construction debris are not. Both my trailers were not ready to go home on the date of delivery due to many PDI discovered issues. I am hoping my 3rd will be a charm. Especially if I drive 8-9 hours to get it!

Right, all the floating bodies caused the formaldehyde problem.
Good, it took the Katrina fiasco to finally get the formaldehyde problem in ALL RVs into the spotlight.
People don't like "government intervention" but when it comes to greedy, cheapskate corporations (AKA, ALL RV manufacturers), it takes government intervention to protect our health and lives.
If it weren't for the dreaded "government intervention", the family car you drive would be even MORE of a death trap today than the cars of decades ago. Sure, they cost more because of it, but what price tag do you put on your LIFE!
Let's see, cars/trucks today are heavily government regulated and they are solid, well built and safe.
RVs have absolutely NO government regulations and they are rolling pieces of total garbage. At least peole aren't allowed to RIDE in trailers by law. The same law SHOULD apply to most motor homes as they disintigrate in an accident the same way a trailer does but they have PEOPLE in them!
At least the Prevost based MHs are built from a real BUS and not foam and luan on a flimsy frame thrown on a truck chassis. You get what you pay for.
Yup, I for one am for full government regulation of EVERY ASPECT of RV manufacturing. It is long overdue.

Lets not get carried away. Those same "regulated safety" items add weight that works against the "regulated CAFE" requirements. Cars have porked out so much over the years that in many cases they get worse mileage than their predecessors. The RV's biggest issue is just plain lack of QC. They talk a good game but how many of us have items that are obvious and easy fixes that were ignored or overlooked.

OK guys - I'll let this run if it doesn't get out of hand... This is a very provocative topic dealing with governmental intervention and/or regulations... Keep it clean, reasonably sane, and no name calling or flaming and I'll leave it be... If it gets out of hand you know what happens!!! I'll be watching the thread closely...

The RV industry is long long overdue for some sort of regulation. They should all be accountable for the junk that gets put on the market and sold at inflated prices with worthless warranties.
Additionally, I would like to know what the government (FEMA) intends to do with the thousands of trailers they are currently holding.
