Have DW stand near the guages and knock on the wall when full.

In most cases the toilet is mounted directly over the black tank and when the tank is almost full you will be able to see the water level through the bottom of the toilet when flushing.

DW stands by the gauges with a 2-way radio and I stand near the flush king. She keeps me informed on the tanks level.

Be careful you don't let the flush king complete fill the black tank or you run the risk of bursting your tank. If anything is floating in the tank, it could clog the vent and the pressure will build in the tank. I speak from experience here. My wife keeps a close watch and as soon as it says full I cut the water off and open the valve.

We use Dick A's method. A flashlight helps as long as you don't drop it into the tank!

I time the first backfill with my watch while my son is at the gauges. That way I can just watch my watch for the following flushes. I did have one occasion where a fellow RVer had never seen a FK and came over and started talking with me and I lost track of time and it came out of the vent on the roof!!! We both ran for it. I doubt he bought one after that!!! Now I don't let myself get distracted!

So...am I using the Flush King incorrectly? I never bother to completely fill the black tank when back flushing it. I let it rip for a couple of minutes dump and repeat. Always seem to get pretty clean water draining out after the second or turd flush

We time the first fill - and then use that for the following backflushes. Never have gotten distracted when doing this so no bad incidents. Since there are 4 of us - we keep one kid by the buttons with instructions to watch them and let us know when it hits full. I guess this is our "backup" in case there's a distraction.

I'm not going to say incorrectly but maybe not using it to it's full advantage.

We will empty and backflush till full 1-2 times and then do another once or twice at the halfway level.
