ATTENDING A COLLEGE SOCCER TOURNAMENT LAST WEEK IN SEPTEMBER AT NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY. NOT HAVING MUCH LUCK AT FINDING AN RV SITE. NEED A PULL THROUGH WITH AS MANY HOOKUPS AS POSSIBLE. COMING ALL THE WAY FROM CALIFORNIA SO I WILL BE BROKE AND TIRED-ANY SUGGESTIONS ON A REASONABLY CONVENIENT RV PARK WOULD BE APPRECIATED
One suggestion is to utilize WalMart parking lots. Best idea is to check with the individual store manager before parking there. WalMart is generally very open to RV customers. In some states, WalMart has been blocked from allowing RVs in the lots due to the campground lobby.
Convienent to Northwestern? In Evanston/Chicago? There aren't many campgrounds with full hookups or otherwise and most of them are at least an hour outside of Chicago. I assume you mean THAT NORTHWESTERN....
If you do, please clarify and I'll make a few suggestions.
Sorry for the "shouting", I need to learn the protocol. Yes I am talking about Northwestern University in Evanston, Il. So the greater Chicago area, at least within daily commuting distant in our tow car is my goal. Any help is appreciated.
Burnidge & Paul Wolff Forest Preserve, Elgin
Chicago Northwest KOA, Union
Lehman's Lakeside RV Resort, Marengo
Holiday Acres Camping Resort, Garden Prairie
Illinois Beach State Park, Zion
Chain-O-Lakes State Park, Spring Grove
These are in the North or Northwest Suburbs, along I-90 or I-94. They are also probably closer than anything in the southern or western suburban areas.
There is a casino RV lot in Joliet, but that's not real convienent to Evanston with all the area road construction.
I have not stayed at any of these parks but know people who have and like them enough for what you are describing. The State parks don't have sewer but I'm not sure if that's a requirement for you or not.
So check them out on RVparkReviews.com and you can read the various reviews for each to help you make your decision. Wave to my ma while your in Evanston!
