Friends,
I have searched all of the regular RV catalogs - either it ain't there or or my memory is just plain poor! I know that I have seen them listed somewhere.
DW wants the stainless steel shield which is screwed to the wall behind the range replaced...it is showing a rust spot. Ours is slightly curved to match the contour of the van's wall. I do not mean one of the folding range tops.

Some of you are excellent searchers...can you help me find a replacement either online or in one of the catalogs?

Try here,
if the sheets don't appear, enter 'stainless steel shield' in the search box.

OR, just try a good local hardware store with your dimensions.

Try looking in the local phone book for a sheet metal shop and I'm sure they could make one for you at a reasonable price.

Wow, this is a tough one. I searched for about 20 minutes online but found only a splashguard for a professional range.

I suggest that you contact the parts department at either Van City RV or Stahmann RV . Both sell and service Class B vans and they should at least be able to tell you what that part is called and how to obtain.

Please post back. We have the same shield in our Xplorer. (I checked their van photos and I guess they are not using them anymore as they do not appear in the photos)

Joe always tells me that I can find anything online but you have me stumped on this one!

Any sheetmetal shop that builds commercial range hoods can fix you right up.

John, I got a feeling that your part is custom-made for Falcons. The dimensions, curve, and any bending or welding are probably going to be unique to your series of vans. I suspect that any generic you find in a catalog will require some, maybe major, modification to fit. It may be as simple to remove the old one and let a shop use it as a pattern. But I may be wrong... a lot of RV makers' hardware is indeed catalog stuff.

If it's got a rust spot, it sounds like it's maybe not very good stainless.

Good luck!

We replaced our shield(mirror) with sheet we purchased at Home Depot. Works well and required no cutting.

Gosh, you guys are fast! Many thanks to ALL of you!

Don, Oldsffan,TurboDieselDude and midnightsadie: you guys are right; I should have thought about a sheet metal shop or even a good hardware store.

Applegater, I will have a look-see at Home Depot and Lowes tomorrow.

Marilyn, I can't believe I really stumped you! Joe is right...you can find anything...you found the crack filler for our folding bed. I will keep trying for a while to find a manufactured replacement, mostly because it has nicely turned edges. When I find it I promise to let you know. Does yours measure approximately 20" X 26"?

Jim [Handbasket], you are right about the "stainless"...rust?? As to Falcon, they used anything they could lay their hands on. The gentle curve would be no problem...the shield is held in place with [probably] sheet metal screws which make it conform to the very gentle S-curve of the wall. The rust spot makes me wonder if there is/was a leak in the paneling behind the shield or if the rust simply was caused by cooking condensation.

Thanks again to all,

John

John,
I just went out to the van. Ours measures 22 inches high and 28 inches wide. Interestingly, ours is NOT stainless steel. I brought a magnet out with me and it wouldn't stick. Joe and I realize it's aluminum (duh!)
