I could not sleep on the regular trailer mattress, so I put a memory foam topper on it...works well. The only thing is that it kind of slides a little through the night to one side. Just requires a little readjustment in the morning.. I have a fluffy mattress pad on top of it too. I sleep on a memory foam topper at home too. I have been trying to figure out how to make it NOT move over like it does. Maybe that's just a characteristic of the toppers, don't know.

How about cutting a big piece of that rubbery tacky stuff like is used to keep rugs from sliding around on a hardwood floor and placing that between the topper & the mattress? Might work.

A memory foam topper is an inexpensive way to improve a cheap mattress. A good mattress does not need one, but a topper doesn't make it worse either.

our "guest room" at home is a fold out sofa, and the mattress is horrible. Although this helps to discourage overnight guests, we do try to make folks comfortable if they are here. We have put a foam topper, and then a fitted mattress pad over the two, it helps keep things in place.
In the TT, we use an air bed, and treat it to the same enhancements. The foam helps fill the ripples of the air bed. The polyester lining in the fitted pad helps air to flow between sheets and foam. The placebo effect for the DW is wonderful, she thinks it is more comfortable, and after all, that is all that matters.

We tried the topper route (a good one with quilted top and memory foam) but found that it moved around and tended to bunched up no matter what we put on/under/around it.
Combine that with the shorter RV queen mattress being only 74" vs. me at 6'1" and DW at 5'10" and we've finally decided to invest in a custom mattress. Actually a *pair* of them because I'm currently converting the centerline queen in our front bedroom into twins, each what they call a 'split queen' measuring 30" x 80".
Our floor plan won't allow for a full length queen on the centerline because the doorway is right in the middle and there wouldn't be room to walk around if the mattress were any longer, but by splitting things up there's now an open area between the beds about 32" wide. Here's the revised floorplan. Not very romantic, but very practical ... I'm not sure why more RV manufacturers don't offer this option.
The new bed arrangement will also allow me to completely re-do the cabinetry in the bedroom so that we'll get a built-in chest of drawers, a lot more under-bed storage, and twice the hanging locker space as compared to the stock floorplan. All good things, right? I'll just need to adjust the Equal-i-zer once the work is done to re-balance the rig since there will be a bit more weight on the nose.
The local branch of the Original Mattress Factory is making the mattresses for us to their orthopedic pillow-top specs for about $425 each. Sounds like a lot, but two of them is still cheaper than a queen Sleep Number or other premium mattress (and if they let me sleep then they're priceless). These mattresses will have a 12 year warranty and should be ready in about 10 days. I can't wait for the first trip!

We are fortunate in that our 5er has a full queen size bed so we went to Sam's Club and bought a good quality Serta mattress and a 3" foam topper and we sleep as well as we do at home.

We had planned to ask the dealer to remove the stock bed and just get a replacement right away. We I went to pick up the unit I go involved in the PDI and forgot to ask them to remove it. Throwing it out is a real pain as there is not a dump near us so we got a 2 or 3 inch topper and now do not feel the need to change out the mattress.
The topper seems to be a good investment.
