Ok I am going to go out on a limb because I don't know if anyone has tried what you want to do. But some facts. Most of what you are worried about is CO (carbon monoxide) CO2 is carbon dioxide (what you breath out). A properly cleaned and adjusted refrigerator flame (look at it, it should be all blue flame, NO YELLOW) produces surprisingly little CO which is caused by incomplete combustion. If you have a Pilot light on your gas stove in your house that is about how much flame the refrigerator has. My Kitchen is at least as tight as a metal building and has three standing pilot lights in my stove. I am still here so I guess it has worked for me and I am not saying that to be smart. The Refrigerator will have only one! I also do have a CO detector in the kitchen which has never gone off. Beside those points you are going to open a Garage Door which is major ventilation.

Listen, I am guessing your camper has a CO detector in it, leave the battery on and if when you walk up to the door you can hear it (the CO detector) going off - OPEN the garage door and wait till it quits and then don't do it again. If it isn't going off I imagine you are fine. In fact couldn't you do that every time if you are really worried? Or buy a 9-V battery CO detector and put it up in the building beside where the refrigerator is and listen for it, that would save your camper battery if you are worried and last for months... a check every time.

I work as a paramedic and most of the true CO cases I have seen have had a complete Flue or chimney blocked off by something or a completely rusted out furnace.

Hope this helps.

(Just thought of something, don't you have to have your battery on to run the refrigerator so you would have the CO detector on anyway.)

The storage garage is a leased facility. I can't run electric to it. The receptacles are on the outside of the doors and are for incidental purposes. But, when I posted this question, I forgot about one thing: 12VDC. I called Dometic and they claim that my 5 cu ft refrig only draws 1.5A per hour. I've got 220 amp-hr batteries. So I should easily be able to power the refrigerator for a day without issue. Right?

Guess we better not use the gas stove in the RV either. That has to put out 10 times what the little fridge flame does.

States I have spent the night in my current rig, bought three years ago.
Have RV'ed through 49 states and been in all 50, just short of my half-century.

Actually, the burner on a RV refer is considerably larger than a pilot light when in the high mode of operation. Much more BTUs being generated than a pilot light.
And again, Servel refers have been used indoors for half a century with no problems.

Don't know if you were responding to my post. I wasn't talking about a pilot light. I was talking about the stove--you know a 3 burner gas stove and a gas oven. All "vented" right into the RV.

Nope, Luke. I was refering to another post where the pilot light was specifically mentioned.

I don't think anyone in this thread mentioned anything about "driving".

Where is the evidence that leaving the gas on a refrigerator caused a fire?
